SAF Officer sentenced to jail in JB for not choping passport

Reported in Zao Bao today. for those who understand chinese, the article is below.
for those who don't, here's a brief summary. a 28 years old officer and his girlfriend was caught by malayisan police for not having their passports chopped at the JB check point. he was sentenced to 3 months of jail while his grilfriend is fined S$1315.

Thats why must always check the passport before leaving booth! Last time there is this incident where the Malaysian immigration officier tore off some of the pages from one Singaporean's passport!

i think they are trying to provoke matters here.
28 years old officer... either a LTA or CPT (with luck maybe MAJ).
they want to collect some intelligence?
but if you are the officer.. how would you explain back to your CO or camp that you cannot book in?
But keep our fingers crossed, newspaper frequently regard every army personnel as officer like how we say a Constable is a police officer.
Won't be surprised if this guy is a 1SG or SSG. -
this is really unfair and biased of the m'sian if you ask me.
Although I do not know the full context of the story... I really think it was not an intentional action by the couple to not get their passports stamped. On another note, they should have checked to see if the immigration was doing their job, after all you never know if they forgot to stamp your passport.
I also find it funny that the girl had gotten a lighter sentence than the guy... weren't they commiting, supposedly, the same offence?
And it's not just SAF Officers.. alot of S'porean are having their passports not stamped. While it might just be an oversight by the M'sian immigration.. I'm thinking we should be extra vigilant... never be caught in such potentially drastic situations. -

THe officer said there was no one at the immigration booth when he drove thru. So he showed his passport to the Highway Toll collector and paid $2.60.
hmm.. whose fault? -
my passport wasnt chop when i wen to malaysia with my mum few years ago.. upon we reached the malaysian custom when we r returning, the malaysian officer refuse to return the passport to us.. so my mum gave him RM10 to bride him.. lucky the officer jus smile smile n return the passport after tat..

Whats the big deal? He did not get his p/p chopped... how can he prove that he is in the country legally then? He should have known better. -

Whatever the case is, whether the guy is NSF or reg, Officer or not, it's a case of not checking, and double confirming entry onto foreign land.. which would def lead to trouble if you're caught.. because you're not local so no one's gonna give a damn... or cut them any slack.

Precisely. TBH I find his story very suspicious. For some reason he drove to a counter w/o anybody in it. Then he drove on and gave his passport to a booth collector who understandably returned it to him (probably thinking he is a little thick - turns out she/he was right. The guy is thick).
