Besides that, everyone in the detail will be assigned a different appointment ranging from signaller, navigator, minesweeper, demo, medic, SAW and i think 1 last 1 i forgot what and certain missions will require the 'speciality' of certain appointments to help solve as there will be some basic training before everything starts. (In my opinion signaller slackest cos i was 1 :p)
Asking on behalf of a friend:
What can he expect to do during SIT Test? Any tips or advise?
Also, any tips on how to avoid misfiring the gun during range? My friend is worried about misfiring ever since his buddy misfired the gun during range. Apparently, the gun fired off by itself even though his buddy didnt pull the trigger.
Good luck for SIT test, have on monday gd better than mine burn weekend.Originally posted by bladez87:monday sit test liao!!!
but i fail route march...didnt do 8 km, wonder what will happen to me
BMTC route marches close eye can do......its a cakewalk compared to units...Originally posted by bladez87:but the last route march i did was 4 km XD if i do 8km now, it will be double of what i last did i... if 12 km, omg... i tmr morning going back for remedial training somemore, not sure if my body relieve of enough fatigue to chiong 8 km anot...
i missed my 6km liao... if jump to 8km is really a huge leap...for PTP
but really arh.,..its all in the mind...bmtc life cant even be called NS life yet...everything is easy when compared to actual army lifeOriginally posted by bladez87:i weak ma...
My advice would be to try, at most fall out if you really cannot take it. If you lag too behind in your training, you will end up doing your 12km when people doing 16 and your 16 when everyone else doing their 24. This might seem like you can skip 24km but there are some coys like mine who AFTER the recruits POP, call those who never finish 24km to come back and clear it together with some other required stuff which i forgot. Its better to clear 24km with your buddies than do it later with less friends around.Originally posted by bladez87:but the last route march i did was 4 km XD if i do 8km now, it will be double of what i last did i... if 12 km, omg... i tmr morning going back for remedial training somemore, not sure if my body relieve of enough fatigue to chiong 8 km anot...

That depends on where you posted to after BMT, since i got into logistics, BMT was the toughest period of my NS life :pOriginally posted by Rockhound:but really arh.,..its all in the mind...bmtc life cant even be called NS life yet...everything is easy when compared to actual army life

Ok, i admit LRI sucks, i was on course during that period and i was still called to go back during the weekends to work... but at least its only once in 2 years rather than all the constant outfields combat units go for.Originally posted by Rockhound:....
but i find LRIs a killer for u guys...i reached a point where i'd rather do a whole week of outfield exercise than to prepare for audits...LRIs....and such

I hate outfield so i rather do 2 wks of LRI preparation than 1 week of outfield :pOriginally posted by Rockhound:but fun uh....
i mean...thats my opinion...maybe cos i am independant and very outdoor kinda guy so i can cope with certain things.....plus i found army sickly enjoyable...although i hate the fucked up regulars
me also monday leh...Originally posted by bladez87:monday sit test liao!!!

And that's where I volunteered to join my Formation's roving safety audit team, rather than being cooped up in the office.Originally posted by Rockhound:....

jungle missions in bmt..even if any...are laughable...you get plenty of time doing that especially when u posted to a combat unitOriginally posted by hainawa:Is it true that in BMT, you're supposed to sleep with your rifle 'cos the sergeant might steal it?
In BMT, do we start to
1) go for jungle missions
2) handle live ammo & grenades
How safe is the grenade practice for onlookers?
Some specs do tend to like stealing rifles at night so most of us used to just treat the rifle like a bolster or else both rifles are placed between the 2 guys sleeping. More often than not they would steal rifle parts and not the whole rifle like the watever thing u screw on at the top that suppresses the pressure from firing blanks etc, that is a common thing to be stolen and most of the time during field camp etc we just black tape everything.Originally posted by hainawa:Is it true that in BMT, you're supposed to sleep with your rifle 'cos the sergeant might steal it?

I won't consider anything you do a jungle mission since most of the stuff you do at tekong are quite basic but if your definition of a jungle mission is anything outfield then you'll do them during field camp and sit test.
BMT is the only chance of you ever handling a live grenade and live ammos are only used during range. For outfield training etc, all you will use are blanks.
haha ok thx. After BMT i only touch that rifle for range and outfield and never once do we still use that thing so i do not remember wat its called.Originally posted by kwlee:blank attachment.
hmmm for me i didnt manage to complete 12km route march during the SIT test cause its 12 noon and sun is unbearable. At around 10km i couldnt take it anymore and fall out. Was totally shagged out n wasnt sweating at all even though its so hot, guess i m dehydrated or wad.Originally posted by dkcx:My advice would be to try, at most fall out if you really cannot take it. You will not retake as long as you attempted it but if you were to be excused the entire 12km route march, you would have to redo it and the only time they have for that should be the 16km unless you can convince them to let you go for 16km directly but from 8km to 16km is double the dist and not easy if the person is not used to it.Originally posted by borntolive:hmmm for me i didnt manage to complete 12km route march during the SIT test cause its 12 noon and sun is unbearable. Anyway i didnt retake the 12km and the next round of round march i straight away do 16km. Surprisely the 16km march is much easier than the 12 km one cause of weather.
My point is dont worry about retaking. I think can talk to yr serg if u r willing and r able to proceed to 18km
Hmm, but that seems really unfair. What if you had a foot problem and you missed your 16km and 24km? Does the CSM have the power to demand you come back and finish your route march? Btw, which coy were you from?Originally posted by dkcx:My advice would be to try, at most fall out if you really cannot take it.
