Many people convert to Buddhism or Islam too because of the teachings, the experiences that they felt with their beliefs.
Same for cChristians.
Religions can be good.
To some they convert to other religions because of the teachings and the kindness, patience and compassion of the followers of those religions.
Yea everyday,
Some Muslims convert to Christianity
Some Christians convert to Buddhism
Some Hindus convert to Islam
Some Taoists convert to Buddhism
And some religious people become agnostics or atheists.
It happens everyday. Conversion happens everyday. As long as they are happy.
And some Buddhists/Taoists convert to Christianity.... I have some frens as such....actually being spiritually happy is more important than having all the correct answers....religion is afterall not an "examination"....some people can be happy with their religion even though they can't explain the basis/fundamentals of their religious beliefs...they just have faith that's all....

Yes I agree there are some buddhists who convert to christianity who are happier, just like there are christians who convert to buddhism who are now happier!
Life is a balance. There must be a balance.

If you dun believe there're God/gods/deities, do you believe that there's afterlife ? I mean, when people die, what happens ? How about previous lives ?

This is a very wise post.

very well said. ....
So how do Christians view the issue of afterlife ? Is there such a thing from the Christian perspective ?
i tink the afterlife of christians is the talk about going to heaven and staying in hell... something along that line.

Christianity believe in everlasting life. The physical body will decay, but our spirits will live on. If you put it another way, there is life after life in the existing world.

So according to the Christians, when people die they go to Heaven straight away? Or loiter around the physical planes waiting for Judgement day? I have mixed view points from my Christian frens....so what's your opinion ?

sgdiehard
Yea same as Hinduism and Islam and Sikhism. Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs also believe in everlasting life and hell.
I think focussing on the similarities will help bridge the differences.

Actually there are different christian perspectives on this, according to the many christians I have met.
1. Some christians believe that the spirits go directly to heaven or hell after death
2. Some christians believe that the spirits "wait somewhere" until the last day. On the last day, jesus judges the spirits and then they will go to their respective places.
3. Some christians believe that the spirits are "asleep" until the last day. On the last day, jesus judges the spirits and then they will go to their respective places.
4. Some christians also believe that the spirits will wait somewhere and on the last day, these spirits will be given a SECOND CHANCE to hear the "gospel" to get into heaven
These are the 4 different interpretations from christians I know :))))

before we go further, I don't want to go into philosophical discussion, for I am not a philosopher. It doesn't matter what other believes, do you think our life will end the moment we stop breathing and certified dead by the doctor? If you don't, enjoy your life while you still breath...hahaha don't we all want to do that? just don't work so hard making so much money then no time to spend.
If you think that, may be, there is an after life, then you should seek the one who control the after life. It is a personal search, too much discussions no use, nobody have been there and come back!!
My opinion is not important, I accepts what the Bible teaches, there is a beginning of time, where God created heaven and earth, there is an end of time, where God will reign in the new heaven and new earth. Where would I be then? go to Heaven straight away after my physical death or loiter around the physical planes waiting for Judgement day, may be come 7 month got entertained by the getai...hahaha...just joking, I don't really know, and it doesn't really matter to me because I know I will be in God's hand.
What I really need to know now, is what I need to do is how to ensure that I will be in God's hand after my physical body perish.

Hmmm
Just to clarify. When you said "what i need to do is how to ensure that i will be in god's hand", do you mena you have to "work" towards salvation?
Which means your salvation is based on both works and grace? Which one more?

Ok. From what I know
1. Some christians believe its purely by grace, no works needed.
2. Some christians believe its both works and grace.
Just wanted to know what you personally think.

Among Christians we discuss that all the time. But cannot discuss with you, you don't believe in God, you don't believe in the Bible. I respect your position.

Good works are not the pre-condition for salvation, they are the fruits of salvation.
I dunno how peopIe can believe in this kind of dope. even a 3 year old kid doesnt, much less an adult. this is 2011 already, not 2011 years ago.
by the way can we change the calendar system year, cos not all believed in christianity. so why are we using 2011, 2012 etc?
