Good work there. As an ex-christian myself, I agree with you.
I was so into the whole bible and religion thing in the past. It took a lot of courage and curiosity to start questioning the reliability and accuracy of the bible.
wake up late from the BIBLE DECEPTION........................
better than never wake up at all.......................
try waking up more Christians from their wishful-dreaming................
bible is not only inconsistent but full of paradoxes. it raises more questions than answers. if they were to start asking questions, surely they will see the light.

I've heard it said a thousand times: "human logic cannot comprehend god's existence. it is too weak, god is too divine."
If you want to appeal to a christian, don't take the logical route. Take the path christianity took- recognise these emotional reflex actions and chemical balances among the neurons.

that is too simple isnt it,expected people to believe this one liner statement? this is 2011, not 2011 years ago
its like an insult to one's intelligence isnt it.
I want to know when is the end of the world as we know it? state a year, lest there is no mistake if it happens

Reasons why many exchristians left christianity -
1. Errors and inconsistencies in the bible
2. Concept of trinity
3. Behaviour of some christians that just is not in line with what they preach
4. Lack of empirical evidence to prove the accounts in the bible and the existence of spiritual entities (angels, gods)
I believe these are some reasons why exchristians would leave the religion.
Of course I still RESPECT christians who stay on in the religion. Im just highlighting why some of us left the religion.
To argue about that, its like to say Chemistry is more accurate than Physics, or Maths is more accurate than History....
I guess there are always reasons why -
1. a hindu will leave hinduism and become a muslim
2. a christian will leave christianity and become a buddhist
3. a buddhist will leave buddhism and become a christian
4. a taoist wil lleave taoism and become a buddhist
5. a religious person will leave religion to become an atheist/agnostic
To each his own, to live and let live. The world is beautiful because of diversity!

Uhh....define "lasting happiness"?
Originally posted by BroInChrist:Uhh....define "lasting happiness"?
Everyone defines it differently.
Some people say it is to be with family and friends and to do what they like to do. THat is lasting happiness for them.
Some people say it's their religion which brings them lasting happiness.
Some people say it is their career, money and life's satisfaction that bring them lasting happiness.
Some people say doing volunteer work brings them lasting happiness.
BIC, it really depends. The world is not just black and white. There are many different kinds of people and many different kinds of things that make people happy.
What makes you happy might not make others happy.
Similarly, what makes ME happy might not make you happy too!

Does your "lasting happiness" includes the drug junkie who is often high and happy on drugs?

There you go again, going to the extremes. You're very bipolar. Personally I dont think doing drugs bring you lasting happiness because many end up committing suicide or in prisons.
I dont see how that is lasting happiness. :)

My point exactly! But then you said "everyone defines it differently"???
Point is, life is short, full of ups and downs, death and sorrow. Seeking "lasting happiness" in this life is IMO not a good philosophy of living. If you find someone who is always happy every moment of his life, I think that would be a real mental case, seriously. Is the meaning of life to be just happy? I think we need to ask what philosophers have been asking all along, just what is the purpose and meaning of life?

U are mixing foolishness with happiness....anyway to be happy and have mental problems are better than having depression with mental problems...

Demon Bane,
Again, if people can define happiness in their own way, what you call foolishness for one person can be his "lasting happiness", isn't it? The point I am making is that the pursuit of "lasting happiness" is NOT a good criteria for making it one's goal in this short life we have.

Okay, then what is the life we should live ? According to you ?

Yea everyone defines it differently correct! That is why I always use the phrase "personally i think".
I am not like you. You THINK everyone should/must believe your views, believe your beliefs and you think your beliefs and convictions are universal facts.
The world doesnt revolve around you and your Invisible friend.
BIC,
You give me the impression that everyone should go by what you believe or by what your "book" says.
Tell me, does the world revolve around you?

Demon Bane,
When you see something and ask what is it for, what do you think is an appropriate response? I would say, let's ask the maker! The maker knows the purpose of something that he made. Would you think that this is a reasonable course of thinking?

See?
You think everyone must subscribe to your beliefs in your Deity. Again I say, the world doesnt revolve around you and your beliefs.
