Not sure what you mean by your point being valid. I don't suppose you chose Buddhism because you preferred the religion that has more documented words of the founder as compared to Christianity?

I think both religions are equally great !

That is another religion question....I prefer to live my life based upon faith....

But faith has an object and that needs to be based on truth. Do you agree?

Yes...must be true to some certain extent....
Originally posted by Demon Bane:Yes...must be true to some certain extent....
Uhh....I think it is either true or not true. True to certain extent for religious claims seem rather odd to me. For example, was Jesus God? Can the doctrine of the deity of Christ be true to a certain extent? Can the resurrection of Christ be true to a certain extent? I don't see how this can be.

Truth can be viewed differently by different people....that's why I said "to a certain extent" is good enough for me....

To my mind there is no such thing as degrees of truth, although some people can be closer to the truth than others. The point made is that truth is simply the reality that we must align ourselves to. It is discovered, and not something we make up.

Can u speak in tongue ?
Originally posted by Demon Bane:Can u speak in tongue ?
No. But I do use my tongue when I am speaking though!
Anyway, speaking in tongues is a gift. And this gift is not given to all believers. In the Bible the apostle Paul asked a rhetorical question, "Do all speak in tongues?"
Are you sure that what you are doing is truly a gift from God? In the Bible, it was said that tongues of fire came down and settled on the disciples, filling them with the Holy Spirit. They then went out to a gathering of people from all over the world, and spoke to them, and each person of different language background heard the disciples speaking in their familiar tongue.
On the other hand, what we know as speaking in tongues today:
1. Does not involve the language centres of the brain.
2. Sounds the same to everyone.
3. Sounds like gibberish, devoid of meaning.
Do you think it is possible that today's speaking in tongues does not have a divine origin?

Hi, were you directing your post at me?
Weekend approaching....yippee !
To anyone.
And I believe that whether I am Christian or not, my question would still be equally valid.

Speaking in tongue and praying in tongue are different. When one speaks in tongue interpretation is needed. it is so called message in tongue to the people.
Praying in tongue is like praying, only difference is instead of using words to pray, they pray in tongue this done thru holy spirit.
Whether one believes in tongues or not hinges on one key verse 1 Cor 13:10. What do you think the word "perfect" means in that verse?

for a non Christian, you have a much better understanding in this than many Christians.

Assuming we are talking about true believers in Christ, I have a few comments.
1. Jesus said no father would give his son a snake if he asks for a fish. Likewise if a believer ask God for the Holy Spirit's gifts he would not be given an evil spirit's gift.
2. Speaking in tongues is not proof of spirituality. The Corinthians church lacked no gifts but Paul rebuked them for acting in the flesh.
3. The expression of tongues are self-regulated and Paul did give directions on how it should be expressed in a church meeting. I believe many churches have ignored his words concerning this.

Many things cannot be put into dollars and cents or have some kind of scientific proof, up till now, we dun even know 100% how our brains work....that's when religion come in....it seek to explain many things....

But if you argue this way then atheists will fault you with having a God-of-the-gaps argument. I would not say that we need religion because there are things we don't know. I would argue that based on what we already know about the brain and the way it works, the brain could not be the product of random mindless naturalistic forces over millions of years.
