It's OK. Nevermind. I have already made my case. You can continue to deny it though.
I am finding it incredible that since you claim god is beyond our comprehension, why then are you able to explain on behalf of god the inconsistencies and paradoxes? do u mean you are able to understand and comprehend god? is it your explanation or god?

Instead, you have to think about why you don't like that thing. Is it because it's a public nuisance? If so, what about other things that are also a public nuisance? Would you apply the same rules to those?
In short, a rule cannot be adhoc. It has to be consistent. You cannot make up a rule to ban religious evangelism because it's a public nuisance, and yet allow other similar forms of soliciting that are just as annoying.
Agree. We cant 'willy nilly' pick whatever we choose to, so you need to let me know specifcally what you wish for both of us to discuss on. Are we focusing on public nuisance caused by religious evangelism or general door to door knocking? Or religious evangelism with door to door knocking?
I thought you dont want to blanket everything into one, so lets focus? I dont think orange + carrot juice taste same as orange + apple juice, even though orange is not my fave fruit.

Yes, the law does not provide for the banning of evangelism. So I don't see how you can still stubbornly insist you are right. Again this reeks of special pleading on yuor part.
So its not unlawful to ban evangelism. Good, then lets take the discussion to next step..
Originally posted by BroInChrist:It's OK. Nevermind. I have already made my case. You can continue to deny it though.
So, next step, banning evangelism, not unlawful
What do we do next step to get it banned?
so it is not insulting and degrading if one were to tell you that your religion is false and satanic and that the idol you are praying is made of wood, gold etc?

Let's recap. You said you want to ban religious evangelizing because it's a nuisance.
I suggested that door-to-door evangelizing is a nuisance, but so are door-to-door salesmen or door-to-door MPs. So are you saying that we should ban all of them?
I also suggested that street evangelizing is a nuisance, but so are street surveyors and flag sellers. So are you saying that we should ban all of them?
by your definition, everyone of us are also incomprehensible and we are mere mortals. do you know what I am thinking now? so you are just guessing too

We should..
Except if those door-to-door activity is for charity.

Talk about personal attack!

laurence,
Are you playing daft? The law does not provide for banning of evangelism means it is not unlawful to ban evangelism? You got a problem understanding that it is unconstitutional and unlawful to ban evangelism since the right to propagate religion is enshrined in the Constitution? Sheesh...

To say that God is incomprehensible is not to say that nothing can be known about God. At the very least it means we do know one thing about God, that He is incomprehensible. It is like saying that women are incomprehensible yet we do know some things about them. To know God requires that God makes Himself known to us. To know what a girl thinks you would have to hear what she said. Otherwise you are only guessing.
so what was god thinking when he created Lucifer? before he created Lucifer, surely he knows he will betray him isnt it, but yet he created him anyhow. unfathomable indeed

Rooney,
I think you see my point but just did not want to admit it. Yes, I cannot read your mind. But there are certain things I can know truly about you. Among them that you are human, intelligent, can speak and write English. Other things about you I need to hazard a guess which may be right or wrong. Still other things I can never know unless you choose to reveal them to me. In the same way this applies also to talking about God. Reason alone can deduce some things about God, and some things may be right or wrong. But to know God truly we need Him to tell us about Himself. Agree or not? Make sense or not?

According to christians when they are met with this question, they say "God works in mysterious ways", or they will just tell you "We will know when we meet God"

Inception,
So you make an exception for charity. So what if everyday 10 people come knocking on your door and ask for donation to some charity? Or every other person on the street you meet ask the same? What now?

Must have goverment approval

Tcmc,
Why do you suppose Christians have the answer to everything? You expect us to be omniscient? Duh! Even God who is omniscient does not owe us an explanation for everything or anything. He has told us what He wanted us to know. The rest we shall find out when we see Him. How is this in invalid answer? You don't like this answer? Fine. What's your better answer? If you don't have any better answer, or don't even know how to answer it, then you should not make trouble for those who claim not to know either. You want to be objective and fair? Then walk the talk.

All got government approval, so how?
And right now, even when the law approves of propagating of one's religion you are already making noise liao.

the problem is god never explain its actions in the bible. the problem is you people interpreting god's action rather than god answering for its own actions.

yes convenient way of putting if cannot explain I know

I didnt say anything. You're too sensitive. I was telling Rooney what christians would reply him, accordingly.

Rooney,
That's where you are wrong. God has told us MANY things in the Bible. To say God NEVER explain anything is blatantly false. Point is, if God explain would you believe? If not, are you again patronising the faith?

And I am telling him that your supposed answer is flawed. Why are you so sensitive that I would choose to reply?
