As we all know abortion is a very hot topic with passionate arguments from both sides.
Why do you think it should be legal/illegal.
Do you believe a fetus is a
living/comprehending human ?
Also, denying a woman the choice of having an abortion. What if she was a rape victim? There are a million
reasons a woman could want an abortion, and who are pro-life people to
say "no reason is valid" and condem any type of abortion except to save
the life of the mother.
They believe it is the murder of a child, an unholy
ritual, and offensive to god.
Why do we always talk about moral/immoral, legal/illegal when there is a discussion on abortion?
I would rather talk about Abortion vs Adoption.
abortion can be a good thing too !
say the parents are very poor, having a child will make situation worse.
the child will not be able to do well in adult life MOST of the time as children of richer parents hold all the advantage.
when the prents get old, life will be hell for the child as he need to support his old parents.
I think the current laws for abortion now are just fine.
No need to change.
We cannot deny a mother a right to end her baby's life through abortion (before a certain trimester). If the mother is determined to kill the baby, she can do it in many other horrible ways=>infanticide, get a miscarriage on purpose, etc etc.
The best solution is a 2 pronged approach, prevent and restrict.
No baby=>no abortion.
Get these people to use contraception instead.
My heart goes out to those who have to make a hard choice between whether to abort or not. Like if it is to ensure the life of the mother, or if the parents don't have the ability or confidence to raise a child, or simply if the parents are told the child will not live a normal life due to physical conditions.
For myself I find it hard to say what is right or wrong. Afterall all people have reasons for the decision they make regarding abortion. Even if we fully understand the reasons sometimes it's still a tough call to make.
Actually might not be in singapore, but using contraceptions like the condom are deemed immoral in other countries. Countries in africa where STD spread like hell, religious people continue to oppose the use of contraceptions.

I'm digressing but just a story I heard, a lady from Taiwan hid and threw away here son and daughter-in-laws contraceptives because she wanted a grandson. She was unhappy they kept putting off having children because of fear of work comittments.

yes, i agreed with you....try looking at "Abortion vs Adoption".
killing is wrong and no reasons can justify that right? taking away one's life to save another is wrong.... even a foetus.
rape victims, financial difficulties etc... people with problems can seek help and look ar adoption instead of abortion.
not so much of moral or legal issues, but the love of another life...

yes and i understand that they are pushing for the teaching of being faithful to your spouse and no sex outside your marriage. responsibility should be the key to stop the spread of STD. not contraceptives...
Just discussing about the issue of abortion rights is already a huge topic of discussion liaw ah. Not to mention moral or not.
