I will say a large part due to the person interpreting the bible. Have a lot of interpretation by different person by their personal experience, emotions or maybe how ''devout'' they are

It doesnt matter if the bible did really say did or dint. But actually the problem is should christains go around promoting all these ? Comes back to my question, if humans are free will, shouldnt it be left to affinty to seek god and not the other way ? Should you really preech to non-believers and shove beliefs down their throat ?
You are twisting my words in some way.. I'm talking about a chance people have to know God. I'm saying God, not church.
If you ask me: Woud you join the church XXX ? My answer would be : no. why? You have eyes, and you can see whether the church is good or bad. Yes, there are churches that focus too much on things that are not meant to be. (Not supposed to say that actually, because it is my own view and one shouldn't judge on things) I quoted examples of christians with possibility of going hell.
What does it mean the chance to know God? Buying bible to read @ home, asking friends on what is Christianity, self-reflecting on who exactly is God. Not necessary means going to the church. Basically means there are resources for you to know, but you choose not to know.
It does not mean:
A: Go to church, go to church, if not you will go to hell!!!
You: No.
Going to church in this way. = going for the sake of not going to hell. not for the sake of God. it is a self-centered way of thinking. It focuses on me, and not on God.
As for going around to preach, it is to reach out for people ; people with the tiniest possiblity of wanting to know God. I do admit it's overboard to " shove beliefs down their throat "

Is it a sin to type the word "Amen"?
Please leave it to individual to make their choice. The more you explain, the worse it may get.
Live by setting good examples speak it all, action speaks louder than words!
pm me lor...
1) own improvement. One is never perfect, and I'm not.
2) In the beginning, just wanna say not non-christians are going to hell.
3) You said: u are wrong, and that's it. How am I know which is wrong? or all are wrong?

Too bad I am not a christian any longer to encourage you. I am awaken now!

so, meaning to say, as a non-christian, you are letting me telling the people all the wrong things in future, when you yourself knows that it's not true.
self improvement =/= encouragement. anyway, i never call myself christian in the first place.
And, since you are not willing, well, I'm not going to bother about it.
I do admit it's overboard to " shove beliefs down their throat "
This is it. Did I not tell you to let people make their choice? I did not want to be repeating what you said to respond. Many are pissed off by negatively aggressive christians "forcing down their throat" by feeding christianity by compulsion.
Action speaks louder than words. Behaviour is the best that christians can preach their belief. As I said it in this thread or other thread, I did come across non believers became christian because of one christian's behaviour. Important that the words preached and action must complement each other.
lol... I removed that when you pmed me the reason, which is like 1-2 mins after I posted that.
yup, behaviour is the best to show. I admit, I'm getting impatient with things. action is better than words.

Why the eagerness since you said you are not a christian?
FYI, i posted that response before I received your PM.
I pmed immediately I said : pm me lor..
obviously timing wrong.
In case timing wrong again, I pmed you, go see.

Why so serious?
Lol
Eh your real opponent is not Moka lei...ur opponent should be the 'christians' who force/threaten/intimidate people into believing. And also those who commit crimes/sin in their God's name.

for those non believers, we can treat this (going to hell thingy ) with contempt and utterly ridiculous. if one religion tell me, if I eat beef, I will go to hell for eternity? am I supposed to avoid eating beef for the rest of my life based on that religion when I am not even a believer. to hell with this preaching I say. it is not only rude, but utter nonsense. this is spreading intolerance with their followers and other faiths. I believe Rony Tan was let off very lightly by ISD, not even a fine. its like a slap in the wrist because he was a religious leader with a few thousand followers and this has the potential to create unrest among other faiths, esp when singapore is a multi cultural society.
even society can give convicted criminals a second chance (not necessarily true) and the state is willing to rehabilitate those who commited minor and serious crimes by educating them so that they do not re-offend when released. spore even have the yellow ribbon and SCORE to help them look for a job when they are released.
if god is being portrayed as merciful and compassionate, why doesnt god give second chance to those who does not believe in him and condemned him/her to eternal hell? and why are Jews (why not the chinese, indians, english, germans etc) are his favoured people. doesnt this smack of favouritism?
by the way Christianity is not the only religion with Trinity. Hinduism also have Trinity in their teachings and it existed about 5000 plus years in India, about 2,000 plus years longer than Christianity.
I also dunno why god bother creating us, where we have to go thru so much sufferings. if you borned as animals, its even worst. the existence of animals is comparable to those who go to hell, where hell being suffer the hell of fire and thunderstorms.
so what are we actually? play things or experiments of god? I rather not exists at all if I have to go thru the shit of being born, study until university with the stress of doing homework, revision and exams, not to mention having to put up with those boring and monotonous teachers/lecturers in classes. after graduation, one has to work and work even though the work sucks and the pay is meagre and pathetic. imagine everyday go to work doing the same old routine and hapless and menials tasks. is there any meaning to all these? worse is, when you die, you are condemned to eternal hell if you do not accept their teachings.
also one more thing. I dun understand why god needs to create bacteria and microbes for, those that are invisible to the naked eyes. those bacteria and microbes are the reasons why we fall sick and die of AIDS, SARs etc. so to add more excitement to our worldly existence and the amusement of god, god decided to add these organisms to add spice to our life to see us suffer and die. not contened seeing us to die, god condemned us to eternal hell some more.

yeah, i have heard people telling me they hate the one who created them. to me i don't believe we were being created.
Originally posted by imacattt:It is the most fundamental tenet in the Christian faith. Non-believers go to hell. The Bible states this very clearly. I don't know why u said u r a catholic yet u don't know this.
hi.. imacatt..
i know that you are a christian.. sorry to ask are you a catholic? Have you read the CCC or cathechism of the Catholic Church??
While Christ is the way to etrenal life.. let's us not forget that God almighty is full of compassionate and hope.. Yr Beilef states that non christian will go to hell because of his non belifef in christ.. that's too judgemental..and worst is a sweeping statement. .Who are we to judge a person life after death.. only God knows his or her soul.. similarly a christian or catholic who did a lot of evil in his lifetime and on his death bed may ask God for pardon and peace and God may grant him eternal life. We do not know the state of a person's soul after his or her death.. so in our catholic tradition we pray or offer Novena or mass for that's person soul hopeing that God in his mercy and goodness will grant him eternal life.. Btw, Novena is a latin word for 9. Thats why devotees of our lady goes to Novena church for 9 times to intercede or request for something..
