May I know why Christians are not allowed and so afraid to eat those food that have been prayed to the dead, to Buddha or Taoist Gods? During Qing Ming, my relatives who are Christians refused to eat or bring home any food that were prayed to the ancestors.
I drank holy water from the church before, I ate food that pray to Buddha, to ancestors and to Taoist Gods. Nothing happen to me. My old grandparents eat food that being prayed live till today, they are already in their 80s. Isn't God's power is greater than other forces ? If yes, what is there to be afraid of ?
i can accept non superstitious reason like some buddhists don't eat meat out of compassion. is there any non superstitious reasons for christians not to eat food which use for offerings ?
Thats called religion-cism
its not abt afraid, its abt honouring wad God tell us not to do...since christians noe doing tat will not make God happy, shld we still do it?
yet having said this, its not a sin to eat food offered to idols..the bible answers this in Romans 14. let the believer eat according to his/her faith...it also goes on to say tat let the one who eats food offered to idols not judge the one who doest cos its done according to the measure of each faith...
Fairyfairy, personally i dun mind eating food offered to idols...however, like wad Romans 14 records, if my eating such food cos my brethren to stumble then i wun eat cos causing others to stumble is not pleasing to God and not gd for the body of Christ. please do not attribute it as God saying DO NOT eat...its more of eat according to wad ur conviction allows...
for a more comprehensive answer, read the bible...if u are even interested...
christians avoid food that have been used as offerings not because of superstition
btw, Fairyfairy, did u read my reply to u in the other thread? i hope i have answered u sufficiently on that one...
Funny thing is that while Christians would avoid offered to idols, they will eat pork although it's forbidden for them.
If its their practice then so be it. We have more food for ourselves

there must be a reason why god ask his followers not to eat food offerings. what is the reason, i know why buddha ask his followers not to eat meat and i also know why muslims don't eat pork but for christians, there are many sayings.
some told me after eating food offerings, they fall ill. really meh ? i don't believe christians are so weak. it is all in your mind.

who says pork is forbidden to us , bible says we can eat all but cannot eat the fruit from the tree of wisdom and knowledge

i respect their practice but can't accept the reasons they give as if the food offerings are dirty and evil. they should give more logical reasons. they have forgotten that before they converted to christians, they grew up by eating the food offerings.

Pork is a forbidden food to Jews, did Jesus override this?
Deuteronomy 14:8
"...ות החזיר כי מפריס פרסה הו ול גרה טמ הו לכ מבשר ל תכלו"
"And the pig, because it possesses split hooves and does not bring up its cud -- from its flesh you may not eat."

Just to clear up the misunderstanding
Jews aren't Christians and Christians aren't Jews
Christians are actually gentiles which adopt the religion and faith of Christianity,
while Jews believe in Judaism and they don't accept Jesus as their Messiah

Christianity was a Jewish sect...and the Twelve Apostles are Jewish.
Luke 7:34
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners."'
1CO 10:27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
