Church of God is a cult

Last weekend I was conned by a good friend to attent "Church of God".
I have attented churches for many years and know pretty much about christantity so once I step in and hear them peach, I knew that immediately that they are like Jehovah Witness etc which are cults..
Now the problem is my good friend keep on persuading him to join him to go for the church service which I do not want to.
In the past when people ask me to go to church I will just don't pick up their phone call and after awhile they will give up,
But this is my good friend who is asking me to go to church..
I have no interest to go to church espically a church that is a cult..
How do I reject him without affecting the friendship?

Jehovah Witness people are pacifists anti-war leh. Not really a cult. Ok depending on how you look at it, but they dun preach hate and contempt, that is for sure. Don't really know much about this church, though...

It's just a branch of Christianity, not a cult...do they pray to Satan or God? Guess you got brainwashed...

JWs are ostracized by every other denominational church is just another truth. No allegiance except to the kingdom of god...duh... -
They are conscientious objectors to military service and also refuse to salute national flags thus is banned or restricted in countries with NS.
I wouldn't consider them a cult more like a branch of Christianity which advocate Christian pacifism.

Church of God says that all other churches are fake-the pastor makes all the fake rules for the members to follow, that it is wrong to speak in tongues, wrong to perform miracles too(they say those pastors are using demonic powers to perform miracles etc)..

technically they are a cult because they demand exclusivity among their own...to call them a branch of christianity is also incorrect as they reject trinity which is one of the key beliefs of christianity, in america jehova witness are not referred as christians.

easy to reject your friend without affecting your friendship..............just say you're gonna be a muslim becoz your wife/girlfriend has been bugging you a long time to get a circumcision...............

Say you are not interested in any religion and requests he respects this. Tell him hope this will not affect your relationship with him.

FIrstly, which Church Of Singapore did you go to? Interested to know which one you went to.
In what I know, In all strict classifications, JW or groups like Seventh Day Adventists and Mormons are called Christian Deviations. They are very alike in terms of teachings to mainstream christianity but have very fundamental differences (or flaws) as we would call them.
Cults are not necessary christians or linked to christianity. Unlike groups that are called Christian Deviations who have a fundamental belief in the Christian God or Christ, Cult groups do not. They may make references to the bible etc but belief in the Christian God is hardly mentioned, instead drawing attention to the deity of usually the founder. Groups like Jim Jone's people's temple or Heaven's Gates would come to mind.
While groups like Wiccans or Satanic groups would be classified as Occults. -
I belong to the Fark God and all other religion group, so what am I classified as?
