How far would you go to preach the gospel? Pastor Rony's recent furore in the papers started me thinking about this. After all, we have been told to "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matt 28:19
And, him being called up by the ISD would be classified as a persecution.
"That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. " 2nd Cor 12:10

like this call persecution? thats another looney in the making. go have your brain check up dude.
its just like MLM. maybe MLM learned from this, who knows.
TS, the best is let actions speak more than words, live by examples - this will be good testimony to others (both christians and non christians alike).
I am disgusted by his choice of words, persecution. in fact this word made me want to puke. Rony Tan is clearly in the wrong and the overzealous christian have the cheek to categorised this as persecution. I truly rest my case here.

And I was wondering how come followers of Christianity seem to became less aggressive in the world today than during the medieval period when some of them clearly still hold the same beliefs as christians and their leaders living back then...just a show for the world and misled people?
To some Christians (especially the fundies), this would be persecution but we know how they think: "It's alright to persecute non-believers but not alright when we got "persecuted."
or the fact a lady managed to sue Mcdonalds for not telling her the coffee is hot
some people serious have no sense of self responsibility

I personnal feel that the quote you quoted, imo, seem like the pples are slaves and he is the master. Something like that.
I feel uneasy with it.
But then, it's up to individual to decide. Not me.

TS is just like a slave and a master. Same mind and same brain. Should be careful with him.

read the verse again carefully, there is a big difference between preaching the gospel and making disciples. Have you ever thought about what it means to be a disciple? What is a disciple as opposed to being a convert which is the main job of christianity. Two very distinct and different things.

You sure? Cause "Asia" back then considered of modern Turkey to the north-east border of Egypt and the Middle East.
Why? Because Judaism, the father of Christianity is practiced among the locals there? Or if "Asia" really means Asia, does Jesus knew Buddha?
for those money-grubbing pastors......................as far as they can get paid big bucks..............they're just treating the whole thing as a business deal...........they sacrifice their time and effort pretending to be Christians and then try to work their way up to being a pastor to get their reward..............which is the monthly collection from mindless and blind followers.............
Roy Fang, are you sure Christians considered modern Turkey to be Asia? During that time, Christians do not see the Middle East as Asia...
If we want to quibble with meaning, let me ask you why should we assume that anything in the Bible is relevant to modern civilisation if its terms are only relevant to people from that time?
That's the issue with the Bible when people follow it literally by cherry picking what they want people to know.

Mind you, some churches other than tithes, offering, donation to charity , they are asking for more. Some of the people attending mega church said so.
