Can christians celebrate CNY?

  Ok ok...there seems to be some confusion whether christians are able to celebrate chinese new year?Anyone care to clarify?

  Yes, Chinese New Year has nothing ill relating to christianity.   Chinese Christians celebrate Chinese New Year

  For toaists, they will make prayers to their god and ancestors and go temper for prayer.

  For christians, they will gather and say some prayers.

  It depends on individuals practises.

  But the outcome still the same, CNY is for all everybody. No religion involved.

  i think you have misconstrued and learnt from the idiots who are the religious maniacs out there who preach gloom and doom and we must sit in a corner flogging ourselves all the time...

  christianity is a religion of joy and love...

  and really.. so, i cannot celebrate the new year of the solar calendar? i cannot celebrate my birthday? i cannot celebrate at all?

  give it a rest already...

  remember the religion for what it is, which is to worship and love God, be good to your fellow men, no matter what religion... which is the first two commandments..

  that is the crux of Christianity isn't it?

  you guys will be surprised that i came across christians who claim that they are not allowed to celebrate cny.

  i think it is an excuse not to give red packet, save money.

  there are churches which i know of preach against chinese culture, saying they are satanic. i know, to christians, many chinese figures like dragons, phoenix, chilin blah blah blah are considered as satanic.

  Chinese New Year merely mark the solar calander of the begining of the new year. You can choose not to celebrate it, and give me your hong bao money =)
