Ok ok...there seems to be some confusion whether christians are able to celebrate chinese new year?Anyone care to clarify?
CNY is not a religion festival right?
If you are a chinese, you will be celebrating cny.
chinese new year has nothing to do with religion.
CNY is not a religious festival.
Yah, but how do one differentiate between cultural and religous event? Sometimes they both overlapped
So, let's celebrate cny!!!!

Yes, Chinese New Year has nothing ill relating to christianity. Chinese Christians celebrate Chinese New Year
For toaists, they will make prayers to their god and ancestors and go temper for prayer.
For christians, they will gather and say some prayers.
It depends on individuals practises.
But the outcome still the same, CNY is for all everybody. No religion involved.

Not all christians will gather and pray. Probably like others, some will go visiting.
Yeah, a happy festival for children, but not adults....
i think you have misconstrued and learnt from the idiots who are the religious maniacs out there who preach gloom and doom and we must sit in a corner flogging ourselves all the time...
christianity is a religion of joy and love...
and really.. so, i cannot celebrate the new year of the solar calendar? i cannot celebrate my birthday? i cannot celebrate at all?
give it a rest already...
remember the religion for what it is, which is to worship and love God, be good to your fellow men, no matter what religion... which is the first two commandments..
that is the crux of Christianity isn't it?
pls differentiate between race and religion
stupid

a lot of people refuse to differentiate them.. that's why in Malaysia, they have fire-bombings...
of course, there are many who sew their own eyes shut when confronted with the evidence too..
you guys will be surprised that i came across christians who claim that they are not allowed to celebrate cny.
i think it is an excuse not to give red packet, save money.
there are churches which i know of preach against chinese culture, saying they are satanic. i know, to christians, many chinese figures like dragons, phoenix, chilin blah blah blah are considered as satanic.
there're even churches who does not celebrate christmas because 25th is not on the actual day and the bible doesnt tell us to celebrate it or something..
cannot. If we all christians celebrate chinese new year, God will curse us and we will turn into lions to do lion dance forever.
why not?
chinese new year is a racial ceremony, not a religious one.
