Sounds like God/certain gods..."I can't get them to do this as what I told them to so I will sent a thunderbolt/plague/tsunami/volcanic eruption etc on their arses."

Sounds like the situation with PAP isn't it? Most don't want to be out of the group so PAP gets the vote every-time. PAP seems like a Mega Church, lol. jk, no offense to members of Mega Churches.
I know many Anglicans, including Rev. Dr. Canon James Wong who speak in tongues (I'm quite sure he doesn't mind me quoting him). You can evidently see this at FOP, an annual event for Singapore Christians.
A former Methodist bishop I know, speak in tongues too.
Its not true that only 'megachurches' speak in tongues. More than half of Christians today speak in tongues, all over the world.
There're many misconceptions about speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues is the allowing the Holy Spirit to pray through you. You can start/stop at your own will, but it is allowing the Holy Spirit to use your mouth to pray through and for you.
Tongues was introduced in Acts 2 on the Day of Pentecost and the early church apostles taught about tongues and encouraged the praying in tongues.
Its not a psychological thing...nobody gets hyped or tranced into it...that's another kinda flaky crazy 'christian' thing that causes some of misconceptions of tongues. that's another story...

Lets say praying in tongues is a miracle, what purpose does it serve? It is not as if god only speaks one language. If it was to draw more to christianity, god should have done something more obvious. At some hindu festivals people walk on fire without getting burnt, proof of their god? Others claim to know a place very well, with proof, though they have never been there before, proof of reincarnation? My point is that if one accepts such religious stories wholesale, then one must explain the "miracles" that happen with people not of the faith. Either that, or the mind is more powerful than we think it to be

For there is no god!!! Just stupid herd mentality.

Its better to get into the debating mood rather than to pull out assertions into the open. As we feel frustrated with the claims of christianity, to us baseless, they too would feel the same. Then everyone gets into defensive mode. Ultimately people would see which side is more logical and reasonable, and follow what they think.

Go ask the christians to show you God. I not in any good position, I have given up on God. With or without God, life goes on. Even believing and practising Christianity is in vain. His existence does not make any difference, so even if you believe he exists don't even bother to see Him or whatever. I have enough of christianity to know the shit, loopholes of it. It is all about brainwashing people. Really!

I thought speaking in tongues is quite common for some of the christians especially those spiritually devoted to the religion....
I usually see these people speaking in tongues, the pastors, the cell leaders and a few of the more "powerful" christians and those that really believe in the religion..
Those that join for the sake of joining usually is not true christians... i doubt those dont even know how to do a proper prayer... these guys will never speak in tongues..

Not every church practises tongue. Speaking in tongue is a gift from God. It is different from praying in tongue
Hi TS,maybe, U would want to check back with the leadership in your church. cause I do believe you will have many more questions in your walk, and it is better if U seek the right avenues.
A religion/belief is something personal. You, yourself, will know whether it is right fit.
just my two cents.
Yeah, you have a point. Christianity is different to different people, god is different to different people.

If the world was flooded, how did some animals end up on different continents? Did Noah deposit the animals in different regions? Or did they swim across the oceans? At that projected point in time, the continents would have split by then, no pangea

Hmmm
God plan was for each pair of animals
on the ark to breed and breed
thats why he only instructed noah to gather
each pair of different kind of animals
I believe the animals were split in different regions
