According to your wholesome and unwholesome karma you can be reborn into any of the following six realms:
3 lower realms: hell, ghost, animal
3 higher realms: human, asura, heaven
Or if you are enlightened and liberated, you attain nirvana and is free from the cycle of rebirth. Which is our goal. Our goal is not to be reborn in heaven because life in heaven is still temporary even though long lived. Eventually one still suffers.
When you are liberated and enlightened (realised your true nature/the nature of reality), you are freed from all mental sufferings even as you live. Countless people have attained this state from the past and even today. Or you can come back into samsara (the world of suffering, the six realms) as a Bodhisattva by your own willingness and compassion, take birth, and lead other beings to enlightenment. A bodhisattva eventually attains full Buddhahood and leads countless beings to enlightenment/liberation.

if everyone were to use their own religion to explain on this, then you have many different answers to the qns. but dun bother, as in their minds, their perception is already fixed. in their minds, their religion teachings is the truth and all others are false, even if they dun say it out.

Actually not only would it vary from religin to religion, even 2 buddhists might differ in view depending their own 'çustomised' beliefs which are result of many biases our minds tend adopt. Fascinating, how much the mind does right under our noses and we never even notice.)

Yes all the mentions share a common vision of transformation....hence the "Resurrection"....like i mention in earlier post there were different of opinon as to the process...
Hence does the butterfly know that he/she used to be a caterpilar. and does the caterpilar knows he/she is going to look like a butterfly?

In this thread it is does necessary to not get into the debates on who owns the Words...
It is perfectly fine to compare between Buddhist vs Christian...(I apply the word christian in a liberal catergory)
So long as you can sleep in peace at night.

They believe if no chanting , the soul will be a lost soul . Like lost items not claimed .
Like those Aeroplane crash , their family will get those Sai gongs to search their soul back , lead them and leave the souls where they should belong .
From there , they R.I.P
See...I think Taoist depiction fall short.....
