i wonder that if u work for a charity, is ur pay taxable?
coz the profit of a charity is from the public....
ie after taxed money from public income....
and if u are tax again for that same money, coz u are a employer....
isnt the money double tax?

Being rewarded handsomely is actually aligned to the theology expounded by NCC. For a Church that teaches that Jesus wants all of us to be materially rich, healthy and blessed in every possible way, you can't possibly have a pastor (let alone the senior pastor) who is paid poorly now, can you ? Living the good life is part and parcel of being a Christian as NCC would tell you ... sigh.
cheap cheap lah... 500K nia...recruit him to be our MP lah... save alot leh..
churches like city harvest and ncc function just like a money making business.
sometimes i wonder if God is more important to them or money?
They make it seem as if God needs money.
When actually it is they themselves who are so materialistic.

Rich or poor is not an issue... It is how one show off their wealth... I don't agree that wealthy people needs to show off their wealth in a way that stumble others...
Jesus did not say anywhere in bible that He wanted his disciples to be materially rich...
Any quotes? =)

Agreed. I don't agree with the theology being expounded by NCC and other like minded churches.
It shows what kind of people produce the kind of pastors we see..

You mean like supply and demand? =)
It is sad that churches nowadays cater to supply and demand theory of the 'marketplace'. As so aptly put across by kong hee of city harvest ' to penetrate the marketplace'.
Aren't we as good christians, supposed to conform to God?
Why are these commercialised megachurches making God conform to the supply and demand of the 'marketplace'?

I dun think our religion do not need to "penetrate market"...
Thats worldly thoughts... We're talking about meeting the spiritual needs of others...
Sigh, what has the world come to... =(
True Christians who have faith in Jesus Christ should live a modest and humble life just as Jesus advised. This would thus ensure the highest probability of entering His ETERNAL kingdom. It doesn't make sense to enjoy our insignifcant live-span here on Earth at the expense of ETERNALITY.
A true believer should give any EXCESS in earnings to the poor and the needy instead of acccumulating it for his/her own greed, or being used selfishly to maintain a lavish hedonistic narccistic lifestyle.

Rev. Kong does not take a CENT from City Harvest for your information.
youyayu.
how many times do you city harvest members want to repeat this? Do you think we are stupid? He declared it so loudly on city harvest website. Scared the whole world don't know?
But do you know, that it such a coincidental timing that he stopped taking his 8k salary immediately after TT durai was being investigated? LOL
And do you know how much money he gets going overseas to preach ? Why does a servant of God need to get so much money in return for preaching in another church? Shouldn't this be done for free? At most his travel expenses should be paid, that is all.
Do you know how much money he receives from his cds, books and dvds?
compare this with 8k a month. Its nothing to him! so he conveniently chose to disclose to the WHOLE world that he stopped taking salary. LIKE HE IS SOME BIG HERO.
Seriously
Its so easy to predict what city harvest members will reply in defense of their church. Their answers are ALL THE SAME!.
1. kong hee not on city harvest payroll.
2. they want to 'penetrate the marketplace'
3. they want to be relevant to society
4. Christ was actually very rich.
5. they have 30000 people. so they cannot be wrong
6. kong hee sits on the board of the david yonggi;s full gospel church.
7. sun ho dress like a slut but she is doing good deeds.
8. they give money so they will get 100 fold back in return.
lalalala, got quite a few others that I cannot recall off my head.
In reality, city harvest members are completely brainwashed.

Amen amen... =)
Though I've not really given much excess to the poor myself, and that I do have some sort of investments (i.e: CPF investment, some bonds, etc...), I reckon that the main issue here is not to indulge in wealth accumulation to the extend of seemingly greedy... =)

Good to know that Rev Kong is not taking any money from the church itself. I see that its very noble of him to actually preach for free...
Anyway, I've not been to the website of CHC, but do you have any idea how the church spends their money?
As in for good cause kinda thing? For example, to help out the poor and needy, to set up a fund for any other cause?

I think by not taking money from church itself is considered a noble cause. As for taking a token for preaching overseas, we really do not know how much the token is... But every worker deserves his pay, willing seller willing buyer kinda concept.
Not that I am agreeable to this kind of concept, but if that's the way it is, then thats the way it is...
As for selling of books, CDs & DVDs, getting a royalty is not something against the law, technically speaking, its only business...
Now now, its his own hands that created his worldly wealth, shouldn't we be more concerned about the loss?

salary full time ministry members.

CHCSA was also among the first international aid-relief teams to reach Banda Aceh to offer aid during the Indian Ocean Tsunami on 26 December 2005.
emmm Cult?
if they are a cult. i am sure they are very Good cult.
bored why are you so sore? he got ability to write books, produce sermons. to help 1 daily life.
whats wrong with that?
who are you willing to listen to?
-----------
If you want to save people from hell... and if you yourself is in hell.. how are you going to save???
if there is no testimony how are you going to save?
there is a reason why i am in city harvest no matter what people say. its because i witness miracle. in my own life. since i step into city harvest church.
the momment i went to the alter call. its like my whole life has transform.
my spine problem which has been bothering me since i was a kid. doctor say that i have to live with this condition for the rest of my life. since that alter call. i was heal. i nv find a pain in my spine ever again.
i belive City harvest IS a church made by god people.
if every church were to be sucessful, are you gona say christianilty is a cult?
i got NO IDEA why are you so pissed about City Harvest Church
there is other church like NCC too.
i see no need why do you ALWAYS have to go type in shoutbox that City Harvest is a Cult.
i really see no reason why are you doing it..
and why target city harvest???
if city harvest really is a cult. god will punish. as for the people there. who worship him. surly he won't cast them away.
i seek god. i don't seek kong. GET IT?
So how much money goes to mission funds and how much go to building your church and spending money on your silly sound systems and titanium walls??
Judging from your posts, I can tell that youyayu is still most probably in sec school and very very immature in his christian walk.
youyayu, firstly, what you need to do is read the entire bible and see for yourself if what the bible says actually is in line with what kong says.
You may wish to also start doing your own research about 'prosperity gospel'. A simple google search on it will do.
I am deeply concerned that many young teens like youyayu (note I am not targetting you, just using your nick as an example) blindly follow false prophets like kong hee without even knowing much about the christian faith.
Here are some good articles about city harvest:
http://healtheland.wordpress.com/2008/03/30/non-biblical-teachings-of-kong-hee-of-city-harvest-church/
http://e-hung.blogspot.com/2008/07/dangers-of-blind-faith-is-city-harvest.html
so what you trying to say. is
kong is actually reading a bible from
Kong Hee Translation?
im not a young teen.
you are.
im not the one coming online just to crap out some church like you.
Mature ppl know how to STOP this nonsense.
and you obviously won't.
Go ahead. be poor. be in debt. don't even get rich. be sick
that is how your gona shine christ?
There are at least 4 group of people who go to city harvest.
1. Youth or teenagers who wanted some fun. CHC is one of the few churches which is modern and 'hip', focus on bright lights and loud music.
2. People who wanted to get rich.
3. People who truly believes in God but do not know how to filter “unwanted messages” like prosperity gospel.
4. People who truly believes in God and know how to filter “unwanted messages”
Sadly,
Most people there belong to 1, 2 and 3.
Youyayu
I say with conviction kong hee's doctrines are of his own translation and own interpretation.
Unless you can convince me otherwise.
Please tell me where kong hee get his doctrines from? Why does he preach different things from the mainstream churches?
Do you even know what normal churches preach? Like catholics, methodists, baptists, anglicans, etc..
I hope you can give me an answer.
Let us go back to a more peaceful discussion shall we???
Let us act like Christians yeah? As much as I have my reservations for City Harvest Church, I can see that they have also reached out to the community in their own ways...
I would express my disappointment in the way that this kinda church topic is handled and reckon that theres definately a better way to discuss this topic amen?
Need me to quote?
