As we live a good life in Singapore, we must remenber that people in Indonesia are still suffering.Let us not indulged on rampant consumerism this Christmas but spread our joys to people in Indonesia.
By becoming part of it? LOL
Eeer I think it is the rich Indonesians or other country's tourists who are indulged in shopping spree every holiday not just on Christmas and whether they are celebrating it or not too. But they are helping the economy by doing that. Singapore great sale anyone?
Tourists always buy more...than locals.

I sense a break in logic there.
I was just saying why not try to stop tourists from engaging in shopping spree. It would save more money as they spend more than locals and a significant number of them are Indonesians. A fellow countryman helping another fellow countryman seems more logical to me.
Do you see the point? No?
And why just Indonesia? The poor is everywhere. India, Africa, East Timor, Phillipine or Vietnam, Myanmar, and places everywhere.
But to take the idea globally,
To the Americans and Europeans gifts giving on Christmas has been a long tradition. To tell them not to shop for gifts would be like telling the Americans not to have turkey on thanksgiving. I think people still afford to donate their money and helping the poor without losing the tradition of gifts giving on Christmas unless they are strapped of money which gives them no reason at all to either shop or donate their money. Remember end of year bonus?
Let's face it we normal people are selfish people and for good reason too. Our need come first then only we donate whatever we could to help other people.
