As a Christian I have my own weaknesses and I cannot picture myself living a holy life. Do we Christians need to live a holy life to be saved? It's not that I'm an evil person but little sins here and there. Though I sometimes feel that God is involved in my life I'm never sure whether I'm worthy of eternal life as I have a very high standard as I believe we all do. Do we Christians need to really break all sins and live holy? Is living holy a requirement of being saved?
There are plenty songs which lyrics say something like being turned more like Jesus. That is very very difficult.
What do you think? If you were to die or dying now would you be sure of your worthiness to receive eternal life the very crown of life?
what did u sin?
I sometimes take a look at internet pornography. Nothing serious as I don't keep any pictures or clips in my PC and my head is not full of obscenity/dirty thoughts as a few church friends of mine admitted . I delete them right away but every one, two, three week I look for that kind pictures or movie clips again. I feel like a loser in this. And the guilt afterwards of course.

Hi;
Do we Christians need to really break all sins and live holy? so, Is living holy a requirement of being saved?
first of all, is it humanly possible to really break all sins and live holy, sometimes maybe, but all the time? and in all action, thoughts and intentions?
To be honest, humanly its impossible (even the Apostle Paul have this problem).
So Nope.
Make it this way, if living holy a requirement of being saved and its humanly possible to break all sins and live holy, then there is no need for Christ to be scarificed on the cross.
God Bless...
dear M&P
are u baptised? if you are, do u still remember what does baptism means to you and God?
God knows all humans are not perfect and thus have a great tendency to sin. he knows our strengths and weaknesses. if you have really done your best to please and worship God. He will not fault you. but have you really done your best to resist satan's temptations? ask yourself that and u will answer the qn u post.
and after u have sinned..are u truly repentant and ask for God's forgiveness and strength to resist the next sin??
Yes I'm baptized. Well I still think I haven't done my best as doing the best means living holy in my opinion. In my opinion each person has the capacity(potential) to live a holy life no matter who.
I ask for God's forgiveness of course in my prayer but I'm ashamed that I know in some time latter I would repeat this. I feel like I'm playing with God's forgiveness and that I didn't really mean to ask for forgiveness.
Yes I know about Paul.
To make matter worse God sometimes shows me His grace by allowing me to know some events in the future and feeling what others feel(not it's not a personal boasting or cocktalking really). Because of this I feel really bad.

since you are baptized, u surely know what is expected of you already. to really live a holy life like what the bible teaches, even alot of movies, games, books u have to forgo..
at least u had asked for forgiveness..but also pray for strength to be given u through the HS to resist temptations to come. next time u feel the urge to b naughty again, stop and think if it pleases God. u know He can see u wank off. den mayb u wun feel so comfy to surf naughty sites again lor.
btw, ur personal "divine revelation" thingy...mayb u would wanna read on the book of revelation to understand what u really "saw" by "whom"??
M&P,
I think no matter what religion we are from, once we take a deliberate choice in committing into that faith, we ought to at least, try our best to follow the ideal lifestyle that is taught by your faith.
Don't be too disheartened with what you have flaw. Focus on what you're good at and pray for transformation for your shortcoming.
=)
Do you have a girlfriend? It's understandable for those without girlfriends to indulge in pornography because they have no girlfriends to have sex.I am also a porn addict.I also don't have girlfriend to have sex.God will not blame you.
I am worse than you.I stripped naked in the living room and masturbate in front of my family.

maybe it's because you are a vegetarian or that you are listening to Gold 90.5 or you are drinking coffee.
however, the real question is: do they enjoy watching you?
No so long ago, there was a thread that discussed whether holy living is a requirement for salvation....
.....it all depends on who you are asking.
the myriad of answers will consist of the following:
i will tell you that proponents from either side will quote verses to support individual beliefs....
start with reading what unker vince has written... there's lots of common sense in those few short statements.

Bible also didn't say we cannot do drugs....

heh..i know u must be trying to be cynical here..
many people raised issues on bible nv say cant watch porn, do drug, smoke what..then y cant do?
in the mosiac law, though nv explictly says cant do drugs or smoke. but the meaning is there already.. so no arguments lor. jus sub the "in" thing into the verse and you know cant do what. =)

Yes I agree with what you wrote that once we take a deliberate choice in committing into the faith that we sould try to follow the ideal lifestyle according to the teaching.
I talked to my pastor in a confession. He said that it was normal to have weaknesses. I hate to think it as an excuse to live in sin. But after sometimes being clean from porn I fell into it again for an hour or two then regretted it, the cycle keeps repeating. It seems that I took my salvation and God for granted whenever I fell for pornography.

Having a premarital sex is a big no to me especially when I love the girl.
Do you love your girlfriend Ongsoosiang? Or do you lust her instead? When I'm in love it's very difficult to be lusted with the person I'm in love with.
I'm not even going to comment on your next post. What's the matter with you?
Hi,
OF course not everybody have to live a holy life. Yes, its imposibble. But we must try harder(as hard as we can) to be mroe like Jesus, even though we cant.
And...I have the same problem as you....I'm a christian too. I always feel ashamed

I don't think I have to forgo a lot of movies, books and games to follow an ideal life of Christian teaching. I'm not afraid of movies, books and games as long as they are not contradicting to my faith. Even when they are controversial I still watch, read or play them. They are after all fantasy only. I intend to break all the myth and dispelled all the lies. Watching and reading Harry Potter is not heretic, practising withcraft is. Being afraid of Harry Potter makes no sense to me because I have a God who is alive. I have no problem separating what's real and what is not. There is nothing wrong with enjoying life as a Christians. Show me your satan and I show you my God and I would bet you my whole life that yours would fled. I learn that from past experience.

Actually I found that pornography has plagued most boys or young male today even those actively involved in the church activities. I found that I was 'lightly' plagued in that I no longer accumulate those stuffs in my PC or think dirty all the time(Well don't keep them if you want to get rid of the dirty thoughts as keeping them means inviting yourself to see them over and over). Could it be that in heaven there would be a great majority of women?[chuckles] I know people won't marry in heaven but they do keep their gender.

That's deep Chin Eng. I love if you tell me and us what you think on both points.
