Hail Satan!
Stairway to Heaven and Hotel California are just two of the more popular songs that are said to be satanic - the lyrics and hidden messages when the songs are played backwards..
Just be wary of the music you are listening to. Some music can drive people to commit suicide.

We need to be clear as to what we mean when we deem something as satanic. The members of Eagles had already stated clearly that the meaning to "Hotel California" is a reflection of the decadent lifestyle of that period. So we can choose to accept that explanation or attempt to read in between the lines and ascribe meanings that are not there in the first place.
When we say that there are hidden messages, is this a statement of truth or a statement of assumptions? Just do some research on "back masking" and you will probably find an experiment done sometime back that had Psalms 23 also having "satanic" messages. It all goes back to the speed on the reverse play. At some given speed, I am sure something "satanic" can be heard.
On the assumption of hidden messages, do they affect those who don't understand English, or do these messages affect every single person - the answer is obvious - NO. It doesn't even affect 99% of the listeners.
If the only reason to be careful about what one listens to is: does it change your value system? If it does, satanic or not, it is harmful.
I love Hotel California for the unplugged, raw guitar sounds.

The lyrics
Warm smell
of colitas Rising up through the air - refers to the scent of burning marijuana
So I called up the Captain
Please bring me my wine
He said We haven't had that spirit here since 1969 - was the year the Satanic bible was published. The church was also registered the same year. The holy spirit naturally was not welcome in the 'hotel'
Relax said
the night man
We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave - once in, can never leave the 'hotel'. The back cover of the album showed Anton Lavey looking down form the balcony of the 'hotel'. Anton Lavey was the high priest of the first Satanic church of America. And of course the message when the song is played backwards.

yeah, like I've never known all these before....
how about.... http://www.snopes.com/music/songs/hotel.asp??
sure, the allegations about satanism is aplenty..... as I'd said, would you believe in the allegations or would you go with the explanations of the authors?
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Eagles-449/Meaning-song-Hotel-California.htm
To say that a song contains lyrics about a decadent lifestyle that is different from others is really not the same as saying a song is Satanic.
Here, I am NOT defending satanism per se. I am saying that as Christians we need to be responsible for our claims. We need to investigate and analyse if such claims are really true.
For example, on the issue of the image of Anton Levey.... have YOU actually seen the image? or did you pick it off from somewhere?
... and please, don't anyone start on back masking.

OK. Let the Christians be wary. Non-Christians can have it their way. You are free to choose and defer.
You see, some celebrities themselves(mainly rock musicians) do not deny or try to conceal the fact of their prefences and interests in occultism and satanism.
Jimmy Page once owned an occult book shop and publishing house in England. He also bought Aleister Crowley's house in Loch Ness. Crowley praticed his satanic sexual rituals in that house.

sure.... but why is it that when OTHER celebrities DENY their involvement in the occult, churches still refuse to believe in them?
yes we are all free to choose and defer, but when we actually choose and defer, we need to do it with facts and not hearsay.

Spooky . . . I have the album. My brother in law borrowed it for testing his car sound system. I don't think I want it back LOL

why is it spooky?? afterall you've had it for the longest time.
.... unless, of course, the music had done something to your head.
.... i am repeating myself here: to say that something that disagrees with one's theological belief is NOT THE SAME as calling this thing satanic.
.... but to each his own. I enjoy Eagles very much, even their latest album. They have already given their explanation of the lyrics but there will always be some who'd believe whatever they choose to believe. I have never heard of a SINGLE person that's influenced by Hotel California one way or another.

Haha, I love rock music too before I accepted Jesus as my saviour.
....and I still listen to Led zeppelin songs, the faster and heavy ones because Jimmy Page is my guitar hero. However, I'm aware that he dabble with occultism and I'm wary of the lyrics too. Stairway to Heaven is a ballard, too slow for my liking.
Always be cautious to not let rock and roll lifestyle influence me. Even if it's not about occultism, it's about sex and drugs. Mostly bad influence.
Eagles is not my favourite band.

without sound like i am nitpicking.... you're against Hotel California... and say that the song is satanic - which in itself, it's an ok stand... if one is consistent with the rest of the music genres....
but you contradict yourself when you say that Jimmy Page is your guitar regardless of how he dabbles with occultism....
so on one hand, you still listen to Led Zeppelin, inspite of the group's confession that they dabble with occultims, and possibly satanism
on the other hand your condemn a song when the group concern states very clearly that the song is their interpretation of the prevalent culture at that time - nothing more nothing less...
in my opinion, you need to be a little more consistent on your stand on what is satanic music and what is not.

Jimmy Page is good with the guitar. That doen't mean I emulate his ways. The guitar is innocent. I also like John bonham's tight drumming. By the way, he's dead.
It's the lyrics that's the main concern. I never liked Stairway to Heaven or Hotel California, even before I knew that the lyrics were satanic in nature. Like I say, the songs are too slow for my liking at that time.
I never like any other Rock groups since Led Zeppelin - KISS, AC/DC, Metallica, Scorpions, Slayer etc, never like the music.

exactly.... so the guitar is innocent.... but what I've also heard is the much of such rhythm came from satanic rites.
so when someone listens to stairway to heaven or hotel california, one is deemed to have emulating the lyrics?
Listen to parts of the music in youtube, played forwards then backwards.
Tell me that it's not there.
Hotel California too.

..again, like I don't know....
well, my family did a blind test.... meaning we listened to it WITHOUT the benefit of the lyrics played on the screen....
we couldn't make it out....
the test group included my two sons.... but it is funny....
Stairway to heaven....
Oh here’s to my sweet Satan
The one whose little path
Would make me sad
Whose power is Satan?
He’ll give those with him 666
There was a little tool shed
Were he made us suffer Sad Satan
Does this even have a real meaning? what's the thing about the "little tool shed"?
So, say, I give you (and youtube) the benefit of doubt....that Hotel California IS SATANIC....
I come up to you and shout in your face:
…in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say…
Do you hear, subliminally:
Yeh, Satan hears this
He had me believe in him…
This is important.... because it will determine if backmasking is INTENTIONAL - ie, the artistes (and their record producers) put in the sound themselves,
or
It is a PHENOMENAL of the English language... meaning, whether it's Glen Frey singing those words or Chin Eng saying it in front of you, the sound is the same.
Again, assuming if all these are true..... how does it affect the individual...? We all need to consider the practical aspect of "brain washing"... how does it work???? How many known responsible individuals were affected by these lyrics.... I like Hotel California..... but I like J-pop more.... not kidding here... not to mention Sam Hui and Adam Cheng... whose concerts I attended recently.
Beyond that, are we now saying that the brain is able to filter through the sound and automatically play the message backwards....?
And that the message will cause us to do things that we don't normally do....???
If this is true.... I'd not attend the NATAS fair.... play it backward it's Satan all over again.
If this be possible, I'd like for our media to insert the message: "I want to do well my mother tongue" so that my children can score well in their second language.
....but back to your inconsistency.... Jimmy Page is your guitar hero inspite of all these??? gimme a break!
well... here is a list of known backmasked messages.... some extremely intentional, eg, the Weird Al Yankovic one.
A couple more points to add....
how come the imagery of satanic music is so westernised..??? what's satan going to do with the majority of the world that IS NOT westernised.....?
or
how does Hotel California affect the dear old auntie in the market selling fish???
or
what about the nice Filipino band doing their gig at a hotel restaurant and they got requested to play Hotel California (I actually know a couple of nice bands doing an excellent treatment of this song).
I've provided enough information, I think.
It's up to the individuals read up and decide whether to believe in Wiki, the Christian Pastors' warning or the pschologists' views on sublimation and backmasking.

err.... all mainstream songs only talk about love n s3x. JJ lin included.
and pop music is pretty old already.
and hip hop(or Rap as it should be called) has like mainly two kinds. Gangsta rap n South coast hip hop. Gansta rap usually talks about cars, girls and bling. South coast rap, on the other hand, usually rap about social issues, like social commentaries.
and besides, i have heard hip hop-ish christian music.
so please get your things right. fyi, i am freethinker.

i think you've provided enough information.... only from one side of the fence.
as responsible Christians, we need to be objective.
i am not at all saying that wiki, or the internet is a good source.... neither am i saying that Christian pastors or psychologists are good sources either. more often than not, warnings that come from such people are based on their current opinion of a given issue. such opinions are often ill-informed or bias.
I am actually more concern about eminem and 50 cents than I am of Eagles and Led Zep.... why backmask when the original lyrics are more scary?
fuck satan.
and fuck god.
METAL is the only way to go.
