Who's the homosexual?Originally posted by Phaze:Do not blame your homophobia on the Bible.
8 words.
You asked me to summarize the letter in 10 words or less and I attempted to oblige.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Who's the homosexual?
You are gay ah?
Great reply!Originally posted by googoomuck:Interesting. Someone has bothered to answer the questions.
That's what the old testament said and it's for the Jews that practice Judaism strictly to obey.Originally posted by Phaze:So why did god decide to impose those rules only on the jews?
And some of those rules are outdated right? Why doesn't god repeal them? Certainly those health reasons don't apply anymore?
Or more generally, how do you determine what rules apply and what don't?
So is homosexuality only wrong for jews?
Okay. I guess the point I was trying to make is that there isn't any basis for homophobia.Originally posted by googoomuck:That's what the old testament said and it's for the Jews that practice Judaism strictly to obey.
For me, I read the old testament for general knowledge since the God is only talking to his people, the Hebrews. It's not easy to obey more than 600 commandments.
I'm not sure if the new testament said anything about homosexuals.
laws are harsh but gentiles need not fear. They applied to the Jews only.Tis is one point which I have been debating in here before a long time ago.
For events that happened more than 4,000 years ago, one can only guess what the culture was at the point in time and the reason for God to allow some rather questonable practices to continue.Judaism still followed these laws isn't it If the laws have an expiry date, then they shouldn't say it is unchanging forever.
Genesis 12 - referring to Abraham,
2. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
Genesis 18
18. Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.
Matthew 10
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve
5. These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.
6. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
Matthew 28
The Great Commission (after his resurrection)
18. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20. and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
For believers only. Jesus attempted to save the Jews first. After resurrection, he told his disciples to save the people of all nations, that includes the gentiles and the Samaritans, if they will believe Jesus as their savior.Tat is strange isn't it ? On one hand u say the jews r saved on the other hand u say jesus is attempting to save the jews. Aren't u contradicting yourself here ? If jews r saved is guaranteed, then why do they have to follow the rules

And if u look at matthew 20:20, "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you", and look at matthew 5, then it is clear tat everyone have to follow all the rules of the OT
Matthew 5
17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
How did I contradict myself? You intentionally left out this sentence in your quote:Then wat is your point of telling jews r saved ?
The Jews are already saved as God has made a covenant with Abraham. Occasionally, the Jews do get 'disciplined for mischief'.
You also disregard Matthew 10 verse 6 - Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
As for Matthew 5 17-20, Jesus has come to fulfill the role of the Messiah as prophesied in OT. The Jews have a great responsibility to God. The sacrifice of Jesus is to redeem the sinners of all nations. Then how come christians do not have to follow the rules from the OT ? Jesus himself said tat those tat followed the rules r considered great while those who do not r considered unworthy. And he say they all must follow wat he had commanded. Whe suddenly don't have to liao ?
When a Christian believes that Jesus died for his sins and accepts him as his savior, heÂ’s saved. Next comes baptism and repentance.Obviously there is a contradiction here. God say all must follow his rules, jesus say all must follow his rules, then paul and rest say don't need to follow liao. So in the end for convenience decide not to follow so it is more popular

All are welcome to correct my misinterpretation.Originally posted by breytonhartge:Are you sure that the OT is only for the Jews??
What did Yeshua(Jesus) say? If you love me keep my commandments... Yeshua also said keep my commandments as I have kept My Fathers commandments... what do you suppose that means?
Have a talk to icemoon, he will be able to sort you out in relation to the mitzvot that you should keep... kekekeke.
For example, Christians do not need circumcision or go Kosher in food preparationTat is true. Scriptually speaking it contradicts the teaching of jesus and god. Now people r not following it simply because of paul.
As Jesus was not born yet during the OT time, all the commandments and whatever instructions or promises given by God are to the Jews: Abraham, Noah, Moses etcJesus is a jew. He teaches jews, go to jewish country, celebrate jewish festivals and his miracles r performed on jews. And the idea of messiah is a jewish idea. Jesus had said tat anybody who follow the rules r considered great while anybody who do not follow r unworthy in god's eye
The last line of book of Leviticus - So Moses told this to Aaron and his sons and to all the IsraelitesWell jesus is part of tis israelites and did he say tat it do not need to be followed for gentiles ?
