I do admit though that I find this thread a bit snarky for my tastes. :p
Humor is one thing but I kinda feel we should show our religious friends a bit more respect - even if they do not take offense. -

I suppose Allah, as well as Shiva, Kali and the other Gods of the Hindu pantheon must have existed. India and Pakistan is proof of that.
And it's not God that we're worried about. It's people who believe that God exists and who want to impose their religion on everyone that's the problem.
For example, I'm not worried about Chin Eng. I respect his religious views. He seems to accept that what's true for him may not be true for someone else.
PRP on the other hand, is someone I would be worried about.
Again, we don't mock a non-existent entity. We mock people who believe in a non-existent entity. Hey! We mock Scientologists even more vigorously than we mock Christians.
And I do agree that we can't erase faith in gods in general. We are irrational, emotional beings. We talk to our dead, we form emotional attachment to machines, we pay over $5 for a cup of coffee.

On a slightly unrelated note, have you noticed that Christians tend to have a persecution complex? That's despite the fact that Christianity is the largest religion in the world. Sure, Christians have been persecuted here and there at times and in certain places, however, Christians have tended to be more the persecutor than the persecuted.
Of course, it depends on how you define persecution. -

A person of X-religion killing someone doesn't mean that X-religion leads to that murder. However if X-religion have certain teachings contained in its religious text that compels someone to kill unbelievers, then that's "doing in the name of".

Many Atheists are now voicing out against religion after Creationism and IDism tries to invade Science with their unreason.
Religion should not demand respect and ask people to stop criticizing and refuting it, but should instead stand on their own merit. -
