hmm. i think its more of the fact that we only hv 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. then with the new addition of activities, that's why u see less of your friends lor.Originally posted by stupidissmart:*clap* *clap* *clap*
I am not joking... when i read tat, I felt I have experienced the same thing as u.
I myself also faced many people who r becoming believers
I have friends tat stop interacting with people from other areas after they become christian
I have friends who is complaining tat he have no money, and even borrow money to make ends meet, yet give generously to church
I have friends who after becoming christians, suddenly don't believe in evolution and say it is a lie. And when i talk about it with them, they have no answers but just display blind obedience to the religion
I have friends, who after becoming christian, suddenly have no time for anything he wanna do. He have to spend 2 days a week in church activity
I have a friend who asked me to go to church with him. When I refuse I never see him ever
I know a person who write a lot of words praising god in every page in his industrial attachment notes. He got reprimanded by his supervisor
And now we even have rules set by religious people pushing their agenda.
All the above stories r true I am worried. To me is seems tat people r drawn to something like a vacuum and then become a changed person. And it is not for the better. They seemed to lost their rationality
you think this is some 7th month opera ah?Originally posted by vince69:actually, sometimes, you can attend the service, sit through the service without anyone knowing you were there...
Belief in belief is more Daniel Dennett than Dawkins.Originally posted by Icemoon:lol .. have you read Dawkins, SIS? Betcha will love his books if you have not done so.
Believe in belief.
Yup .. but i came across the term first in Dawkins. He was quoting Dennett, actually.Originally posted by Phaze:Belief in belief is more Daniel Dennett than Dawkins.
no, I am serious.. unless you sit near to someone that looks out for new comer, most people just go to church attend service and go home, at most they look out for their friends... very few will really greet a stranger and even fewer will bother with knowing the stranger beside them.Originally posted by Icemoon:you think this is some 7th month opera ah?
Phaze did a good job of rebutting but I wouldn't agree with all his views.Originally posted by Trump_Card:Great rebuttal , Phaze
then you rebutt him lor.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Phaze did a good job of rebutting but I wouldn't agree with all his views.
How sad .. but maybe fortunate also. But won't the pastor tell everybody to say hi to the person beside you and greet at least 10 people around you?Originally posted by vince69:no, I am serious.. unless you sit near to someone that looks out for new comer, most people just go to church attend service and go home, at most they look out for their friends... very few will really greet a stranger and even fewer will bother with knowing the stranger beside them.
me too... till now.. still some people thinks I first time attend church...Originally posted by Icemoon:How sad .. but maybe fortunate also. But won't the pastor tell everybody to say hi to the person beside you and greet at least 10 people around you?
But I agree with you, all those times I went NCC, nobody knew I was a newcomer or not a member of their church.
Hell... I'm not perfect.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Phaze did a good job of rebutting but I wouldn't agree with all his views.
I think maybe they are being polite. The pastor usually asks new people to raise their hands. If you raise your hand, you will be showered with attention. If you don't, I think people just accept that perhaps you don't want the attention and give you space.Originally posted by Icemoon:How sad .. but maybe fortunate also. From what i see, "foolish" is just a word used by and subjected to the TS. Anyone could judge the TS merely based on that word alone and reach negative conclusions not only about the person but also the religion he is associated with.
But is it fair?

I think there's a misunderstanding here.Originally posted by Icemoon:Huh .. leave who alone?
and for that dave is branded a terrorist?Originally posted by Phaze:I think there's a misunderstanding here.
I think what davidche was trying to say is that it takes two parties to 'create' a flame thread.
The first party is the thread starter. The other party is the people who take the bait and respond to the provocative topic.
It's easy to look at the topic and take it as flamebait. People then think the worst of the threadstarter and the organization he or she represents.
davidche then appeals to us to consider if jumping to that conclusion is really fair.
