Regarding Closure of Eternal Hope

It is with great sadness that I am writing this. I have proposed to Chin Eng and ben1xy on closing this forum. We have agreed that we will no longer keep this forum active.
I am no longer able to actively read posts in this forum and be an effective moderator because of family and work priorities. As I consider about lessening my activities here, it will not be fair to let the other moderators bear too much of the load. Hence, we will close this forum.
The secondary reason in closing this forum is because of the recent activities in EH has made it unpleasant to me to visit this forum. I love God and would love to share my joy with whoever is interested to know more. But I feel it is no longer sensible to share when our views are repeated put down just because someone is not agreeable to our faith.
Instead of appearing to be a thorn in the flesh, it is best that we remove our presence here.
Eternal Hope was started as a gathering place for fellow Christians in sgForums. I have made many good friends through this forum and my stay here was mostly enjoyable.
To the "old gang", Choco B, the Bear, skinnybeanie, Inzaghi, M, s|nned, tare, NT2 etc., my beginnings in here was made wonderful by all of you.
To Chin Eng, ben1xy, Icemoon, laurence82, vince69, laoda99, thank you. Thank you for the knowedge I have learnt from you. Thank you for the friendship I have with you. (though I did not have the opportunity to meet some of you)
From this day, Eternal Hope will no longer moderated. All old and new posts will be deleted.
I will still be in sgForums.
a) Appoint new moderators to help you
b) Request Jason to make this into a public forum and let him appoint new moderators
2) Activities make it unpleasant for you to visit the forum and thus the closure? Is that any different from the "closure" of Pumping Iron? Is it worth it to close a forum just like that? Is it that hard on you when people do not accept your faith? If you a true believer, how would that affect you?
3) You have started this forum as a gathering place for christians of SgF. By closing the forum, you are depriving them of this wonderful gathering place you have once created. The problem here is, do you think it is right for you to destroy something because you created it? Other than the feelings of the moderators, how about the feelings of Christians? By closing a place where you share your thoughts and views about Christianity and God, isn't it considered sinning?
A Church is for Christians to gather, to praise God, listen and accept the teachings of God. Similarly, this forum is for SgF Christians to gather, to talk about Christianity, and to spread the teachings. Closure of this forum would be almost the same as the closing of a church. God teaches you to extend your acceptance, patience, and love to others. Surely you can brush away unpleasant events in this forum and not let it affect the existence of this forum.
Those are my initial thoughts when I saw this news. Thanks. -
wah liew i wun comment on anything else except for the line in red. Let me answer for the mods or even myself. Hey, if we cannot accept people do not believe in Christ, we would have killed at least half of the people around us. I am the only christian in my family. My company only has 5 christians out of 40. But well, we get along fine, we sometimes talk about religion and our beliefs, we had disagreements but we get along fine. It'd a shame to close it unless it is confirm plus chop and sealed with kiss unavoidable....

This is something wonderful about Christianity and something that i really appreciate. Why not take this as an opportunity to learn to be more giving, loving, patience and acceptance of people who repeatedly putting the teachings down. I remember a story about the Moses leading the Jews away from the Egyptians. Moses told the Egyptian king that he should let the Jews go free or face the wrath of God. To cut the story short, the king perished when the Red Sea closed up on him.
God gave the king a choice to choose the right path. However, he didn't. In the case of the closure of the forum here, are you sure you have chosen the right path? Do you think it is the path that God wants you to choose? -

anyway, i am of the agreement that God should be in control and be the centre of your life's decision...but erm....this is only regarding closure of a forum....i am sure no need to pray and fast for 3 days about it bah.... -

It is sometime in crisis that we are being put to test in our faith. There is more than one ways to go about handling this issue. Could you listen to the love in your heart or the aversion ?
I can understand sillyme couldn't commit and it is mature of him to actually want to give up moderating this forum......
The final decision is up to him and the rest of the moderators. -

This is so selfish of you as a self proclaimed Christian, i am not sorry even if you are very offended. Some of these articles are inspiring for new christians or ppl who will like to be part of these great community.
But with your self-centered thinking, i think you should really go for a break.
I might not be very much active on the forums due to commitments, but these are all works put in by other ppl, you are no different from a barbaric warlord.

I really think there are better ways to deal with this than closure of EH, like transference of forum ownership to another (may contact fireice or jason for help) It is an eventuality if this forum is closed, that another Christian forum will be created anyway. So why not just transfer the existing forum to someone else?
For me, this forum account (An Eternal Now) as well as the Buddhist forum are not created by me, I merely took over 3 years ago.
Lastly, (though I think you probably know but just to mention in case).. that deleted topics can be undeleted provided you still have the URL in your browser history. -

I don;t think its easy for boss sillyme to make this decision and its probably hard on him to do this. a lot of us comes to this forum to either to exchange ideas/thoughts, to make friends or just to relax... but if to come, means to fight, to stress up ..etc, is it still worth it?
this forum was unmoderated once, and the mess it builds up. I don;t going that direction is advisable.

Everyone has their own set of problems, it is just that do not manifest it to make your day bad. Who knows others have had a much more worse day than you.
In short, you are only giving in to the easier way out. Going to church is more than singing songs, donations and such, it is more than that. -
