1) No time to be effective moderator doesn't mean need to close forum. There are a few things you can doOriginally posted by sillyme:Dear friends,
It is with great sadness that I am writing this. I have proposed to Chin Eng and ben1xy on closing this forum. We have agreed that we will no longer keep this forum active.
I am no longer able to actively read posts in this forum and be an effective moderator because of family and work priorities. As I consider about lessening my activities here, it will not be fair to let the other moderators bear too much of the load. Hence, we will close this forum.
The secondary reason in closing this forum is because of the recent activities in EH has made it unpleasant to me to visit this forum. I love God and would love to share my joy with whoever is interested to know more. But I feel it is no longer sensible to share when our views are repeated put down just because someone is not agreeable to our faith.
Instead of appearing to be a thorn in the flesh, it is best that we remove our presence here.
Eternal Hope was started as a gathering place for fellow Christians in sgForums. I have made many good friends through this forum and my stay here was mostly enjoyable.
To the "old gang", Choco B, the Bear, skinnybeanie, Inzaghi, M, s|nned, tare, NT2 etc., my beginnings in here was made wonderful by all of you.
To Chin Eng, ben1xy, Icemoon, laurence82, vince69, laoda99, thank you. Thank you for the knowedge I have learnt from you. Thank you for the friendship I have with you. (though I did not have the opportunity to meet some of you)
From this day, Eternal Hope will no longer moderated. All old and new posts will be deleted.
I will still be in sgForums.
wah liew i wun comment on anything else except for the line in red. Let me answer for the mods or even myself. Hey, if we cannot accept people do not believe in Christ, we would have killed at least half of the people around us. I am the only christian in my family. My company only has 5 christians out of 40. But well, we get along fine, we sometimes talk about religion and our beliefs, we had disagreements but we get along fine. But as humans, you may choose to say I am judgemental, i dun care what others say anyway haha... but we are humans, with that little bit of intelligence to discern who genuinely wants a discussion encompassed by mutual respect and those who are simply out to challenge and discredit everything christians say.Originally posted by eagle:1) No time to be effective moderator doesn't mean need to close forum. There are a few things you can do
a) Appoint new moderators to help you
b) Request Jason to make this into a public forum and let him appoint new moderators
2) Activities make it unpleasant for you to visit the forum and thus the closure? Is that any different from the "closure" of Pumping Iron? Is it worth it to close a forum just like that? Is it that hard on you when people do not accept your faith? If you a true believer, how would that affect you?
3) You have started this forum as a gathering place for christians of SgF. By closing the forum, you are depriving them of this wonderful gathering place you have once created. The problem here is, do you think it is right for you to destroy something because you created it? Other than the feelings of the moderators, how about the feelings of Christians? By closing a place where you share your thoughts and views about Christianity and God, isn't it considered sinning?
A Church is for Christians to gather, to praise God, listen and accept the teachings of God. Similarly, this forum is for SgF Christians to gather, to talk about Christianity, and to spread the teachings. Closure of this forum would be almost the same as the closing of a church. God teaches you to extend your acceptance, patience, and love to others. Surely you can brush away unpleasant events in this forum and not let it affect the existence of this forum.
Those are my initial thoughts when I saw this news. Thanks.
to reply you, this is what the forum owner had said:Originally posted by gasband:wah liew i wun comment on anything else except for the line in red. Let me answer for the mods or even myself. You can see lah, there are a couple of people here who openly says that christianity is not something they want to believe in or something along that line but did you see us chasing them away or curse that their arse-hole will be filled with cement? No what

ya lor, note he used the words "PUT DOWN". How do you feel if everytime you get PUT DOWN? Being PUT DOWN is different from being proven wrong. It is different from being corrected. It is simply BEING PUT DOWN. Thats discouraging enough to some people.Originally posted by eagle:

hey sorry huh i seem to be replying only to your post but i got nothing against u huh...so dun take it wrongly ok...Originally posted by eagle:I remember a story about the Moses leading the Jews away from the Egyptians. Moses told the Egyptian king that he should let the Jews go free or face the wrath of God. To cut the story short, the king perished when the Red Sea closed up on him.
God gave the king a choice to choose the right path. However, he didn't. In the case of the closure of the forum here, are you sure you have chosen the right path? Do you think it is the path that God wants you to choose?
I'm not a Christian, but I'm speaking up on behalf of people who wouldn't want this forum to be closed. I'm sure there are more than one.Originally posted by gasband:hey sorry huh i seem to be replying only to your post but i got nothing against u huh...so dun take it wrongly ok...
anyway, i am of the agreement that God should be in control and be the centre of your life's decision...but erm....this is only regarding closure of a forum....i am sure no need to pray and fast for 3 days about it bah....
I think Sillyme is stressed (my personal opinion).Originally posted by Isis:This is something wonderful about Christianity and something that i really appreciate. Hope those inconsiderate pple can face the wall and reflect upon their own actions, and i think it is definitely not worth it to close the forum becoz of such pple.

Hello...Originally posted by An Eternal Now:I really think there are better ways to deal with this than closure of EH, like transference of forum ownership to another (may contact fireice or jason for help) It is an eventuality if this forum is closed, that another Christian forum will be created anyway. So why not just transfer the existing forum to someone else?
For me, this forum account (An Eternal Now) as well as the Buddhist forum are not created by me, I merely took over 3 years ago.
Lastly, (though I think you probably know but just to mention in case).. that deleted topics can be undeleted provided you still have the URL in your browser history.
a bit too hash on the man, don't you think so?Originally posted by sLeEpWaLkErInG:i cannot tolerate your statement of old post and new post deleted..
This is so selfish of you as a self proclaimed Christian, i am not sorry even if you are very offended. Some of these articles are inspiring for new christians or ppl who will like to be part of these great community.
But with your self-centered thinking, i think you should really go for a break.
I might not be very much active on the forums due to commitments, but these are all works put in by other ppl, you are no different from a barbaric warlord.
think abt it.
huh???? sit beside TGE and his elephant... you so bad, so cruel to me.Originally posted by laoda99:Not u la Unker Vince
It is TGE and his elephant most definitely
so now who is bookmarking these pages?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Lastly, (though I think you probably know but just to mention in case).. that deleted topics can be undeleted provided you still have the URL in your browser history.
speaking of TGE and his elephant, i hope he is reflecting now, coz EH is a bit quiter now... (ironically)....Originally posted by vince69:huh???? sit beside TGE and his elephant... you so bad, so cruel to me.
I am not a Christian, but sometimes in Life, your "superior" will give you challenges to overcome, you will then grow stronger and able to lead others who are misleaded. then you will be able to scale greater heights and see a better picture and from different perspective.Originally posted by vince69:a bit too hash on the man, don't you think so?
I don;t think its easy for boss sillyme to make this decision and its probably hard on him to do this. a lot of us comes to this forum to either to exchange ideas/thoughts, to make friends or just to relax... but if to come, means to fight, to stress up ..etc, is it still worth it?
this forum was unmoderated once, and the mess it builds up. I don;t going that direction is advisable.
lastly, the decision on the forum will depends on its owner.
oh.... before I forget... welcome to EH...
