not God Must heal, thats holding Him ransom...Originally posted by davidche:What is the correct mindset one should have when attending a healing service. Are we supposed to believe wholeheartedly that God MUST heal you?
For me, i bear in mind that whether God heals me or not, i know his ways are the best. This happens as i am being prayed to be healed.

If you want to go, go knowing that God can heal you.
but do you believe God want to heal you? or Is He willing?
this is not a ransom 'cos it is promised in the bible .. right?Originally posted by davidche:believe and God will heal you. -> this is what some churches always say in their healing services.
actually no... not contractual obligationOriginally posted by Icemoon:*switches to devil's advocate mode*
This is not holding Him ransom, but highlighting His contractual obligations.
The impression I get from laoda's pet peeve - the health and wealth gospel - is that healing you is His contractual obligations.

the health part is actually
God can heal (no one will dispute this) and God is willing to heal.
Since God is willing to heal, then my prayer to be heal will be a prayer according to His will and hence I can believe that my prayer will be answered.
It is .. or else why by His stripes, you are healed?Originally posted by vince69:actually no... not contractual obligation

God is willing to heal but does that mean your prayer to be healed will be a prayer according to His will?

Then why are so many sicks not healed even after they pray to God for healing? And what about God's big plan that perhaps one should be sick.Originally posted by vince69:actually no... not contractual obligation

why would God wants you to be sick? does it 1) glorify Him? 2) serve any purpose? 3) make Him happy? 4) strength the church? .... any other reason???Originally posted by davidche:Then why are so many sicks not healed even after they pray to God for healing? Firstly, you didnt answer my qns.Originally posted by vince69:why would God wants you to be sick? does it 1) glorify Him? 2) serve any purpose? 3) make Him happy? 4) strength the church? .... any other reason???
ok... let go through this, How these two questions is answered is really a reflection of how much you know God's character and how you relate to Him.
Is God able to heal you? why?
Is God willing to heal you? why?
your questionOriginally posted by davidche:Firstly, you didnt answer my qns.
God is able to heal me because he is God. Omnipotent; its one of his characteristics.
I cant comment on this because i think to myself, if God is willing to heal, why hasnt he healed me? On the other hand, my common sense tells me that healing and being healed are something good, therefore God would want to do a good thing and thus, he is willing to heal.

Is this how you relate to God? By thinking in his shoes? If so, then you are quite like atheists when they argue why God doesnt just show himself if they want us to believe him. But you are not. Yes i do know we are created in God's image so we inherit some of his personalities.Originally posted by vince69:your question

follow by a statement saying
And what about God's big plan that perhaps one should be sick.
to me, you are asking, is it God's plan that these people remain sick?
my answer is, no.
think about it,
why would God want these people (assuming these people is refering to His people, ie, those saved in Christ) to remain sick?
Your view has been rebutted by none other than the gospel.Originally posted by vince69:to me, you are asking, is it God's plan that these people remain sick?

like you said... he did revived Lazarus... so did God let Lazarus remain dead?Originally posted by Icemoon:Your view has been rebutted by none other than the gospel.
Remember Jesus purposely took his time and only revived Lazarus 3 or 4 days after he received the news?
Now my question is, why would God want Lazarus to remain dead?
Originally posted by davidche:can one think in His shoes? Its not about thinking in His shoe, but rather asking if this statement is inline with the characters of God and who is God to you.

The fact is in front of your face. There are sick chirstians, some abnormal, some bear congenital diseases or permanant illnesses. And i am sure many of these christians have attended healing services but they arent healed. In light of(pls correct me if i use this phrase wrongly ) your answer, what is your say?
God's plan. I can only say that different people experience God in different ways. Sick christians experience/ encounter God comparatively easier, due to their inabilities, most of them are humble and look towards God. Sick people have more mature insights about certain issues.
Rock on with God!
