I think it is somewhat flawed to compare the current problem with shopping, movies and forums.Originally posted by vince69:The problem is not about going to church, playing computer games, not about shopping (can be a bit expensive), movies, forums, the problem lies in proper Time Management and Pirority Setting, and these are things parents should be the primary person in helping their children in (be they christians or no-christian).
ok... so you one of thos who would queue up... me too lazy and bo chap already lah... now a days, I normally go straight to overflow rooms at the convention center side, nearer to children church... cause parents have to sign in and sign out their kids... plus the annual form filling thing (parental consent for their kids to attend sunday school)Originally posted by Icemoon:Don't like overflow room. The church is a very powerful organization, in the sense it can affect you psychologically and spiritually. Religion is such an important part of our lives that the government is willing to enact laws to protect your religion (ultimately they want to protect the social fabric but that is another story).
Shopping, movies and forums do not have such lures. They can entice you, but the enticement is just like any other vices. Money, sex, power you can all resist. God personally told Cain sin shall couch at his door, but he can control it.
We should also note here the victims are school students, impressionable children. Vince talk like the victims are matured adults who should have known better.
So my point here is to tell you guys we should see the issues differently.
In the early days, I would queue up for midweek. Until they implemented the "1 ticket per person unless you have a spouse" rule. I was pretty disgusted then 'cos I actually brought friends for midweek.Originally posted by vince69:ok... so you one of thos who would queue up... me too lazy and bo chap already lah... now a days, I normally go straight to overflow rooms at the convention center side, nearer to children church... cause parents have to sign in and sign out their kids... plus the annual form filling thing (parental consent for their kids to attend sunday school)
the tickets is only for the queuing part... a lot of people after they went into the auditorium, chop seats for their friends...so when they arrive, just sms them where to find you loh...Originally posted by Icemoon:In the early days, I would queue up for midweek. Imagine this:
I, not being a member of the church and not even a christian, brought friends to NCC. So as guests, I feel these friends have a right for tickets to be given to them. You can't expect them to arrive 1 hour before the session right? People have work and school before that.
This is one part of the picture and will be valid if the issues are movies, forums or shoppings.Originally posted by vince69:I assumed that their parents are matured adults who have the primary responsibility in helping/teaching their children in time management and pirority setting...
But 1 person can only take 1 ticket. How to chop seats?Originally posted by vince69:the tickets is only for the queuing part... a lot of people after they went into the auditorium, chop seats for their friends...so when they arrive, just sms them where to find you loh...
God first, yes, then Family, yes, church comes after that....Originally posted by Icemoon:This is one part of the picture and will be valid if the issues are movies, forums or shoppings.
However, we are talking about religion and we have religious leaders who preaches conflicting messages like "God first, then family" or "Cell group is compulsory" or "Tithes is biblical".
Have you ever seen movie directors, shop owners or forum moderators giving out the same message?
Let's analyze this economically (maybe Ben can help). The loss from NOT surfing forum, not going shopping, not playing games is what?
And the loss from not putting God first, not going for cell group and not paying enough tithes is what?
Notice there is no God of Shopping who will penalize you or remember your sins just 'cos you miss the last Great Singapore Sale!
* teach you lah... your bag, books, bible .... but cannot chop too many lah... if usherer ask, just say, they are on their way... the only time they will ask you to give them up is after the service had started sometime and your friends still not arrived yet. even then, they will only ask, not force you to give them up one...Originally posted by Icemoon:But 1 person can only take 1 ticket. You are cheating the system. What if someone have tickets but cannot find seats?Originally posted by vince69:* teach you lah... your bag, books, bible .... but cannot chop too many lah... if usherer ask, just say, they are on their way... the only time they will ask you to give them up is after the service had started sometime and your friends still not arrived yet. even then, they will only ask, not force you to give them up one...
