reminds me of the wear berms to church threadOriginally posted by dumbdumb!:it depends on circumstances la.
in the end see how it affects you and the people surrounding you lor.
the bible says, food is just food, it won't make you unclean.
but some people feel unclean if they eat it, so their faith is weaker, so they should not eat it because it goes against their conscience.
another point to note is that, how the host will react.
sometimes the host and company are having a pagan (no offence, i'm using christian terms) ritual, and anyone who consumes their food is considered partaking in the ritual as well, in this case, you should not eat it, not because the food makes you unclean, but because you will cause people to stumble, and creates misunderstanding to the host that you're participating in their pagan ritual.
that's what i said also in that threadOriginally posted by laurence82:reminds me of the wear berms to church thread
offering incense would be a no no. because it will give others the impression that you're partaking in the ritual.Originally posted by caleb_chiang:As long as you do not have the thinking that it was offered to the the idols and thus it brings good luck or something then it is okay.
I think that it is up to your mentality. Offering incense to them as a act of tradition and nothing else is acceptable as you do not want to disrespect your parents by doing so.
The bible preaches that one should honour one's parents, so do as you seem fit and nothing more.

its important to do what is right,
hmm, like i said, the eating as an act itself, isn't wrong.Originally posted by Ito_^:ok i roughly got the idea, thanks.
i asking cuz i met some christians who dun mind eating offerings, and that sorta surprised me. the ones i knew were against eating offerings to deities.
haha, it's very popular that christians don't hold incense and eat food at temples and stuff.Originally posted by davidche:thought it would be followed by....and not what is popular.
Halal only means "prayed over"?Originally posted by Dr Who:All your Chicken, Mutton and Beef are prayed over by Muslim when they are slaughtered before sale at market.
That's why it's called "HALAL"
What is the difference if the food is offered to Chinese Idols or to Muslim Allah?
you cannot find non-Halal meat in Singapore except pork ok? Only Pork is not prayed over............
