'if' refers to a conditional, not even a hypothetical situation. Your 'when' refers to a hypothetical situation, which is worse 'cos all hypothetical situations are not worthy of constructive discussion. When was the last time you heard people discussing the [hypothetical] pink unicorn? -

haha .. I'm surprised some Christians can be so double-standards. On one hand they jeer at the evolutionists, mocking at their "it is just a matter of time before this cell evolves into an organism" theory.
On the other hand, they proclaim he's coming back, but just a matter of time. And they proclaim this not as theory but eternal truth.

In any case, taking the statement by itself: It boils down to the definition of Christian. If it means, follower of Christ, it really makes little sense, doesn't it?
