When u are sick, u become scared.....esp u know it is slow disease which eventually will cause ur liver to fail.....where got time/mood to quarrel after u know this?Originally posted by Icemoon:but how come diagnosed liao then never quarrel?
shouldn't it be worse .. since sick people are usually more irritable.
Hey laoda....what disease is that? Is it called Primary Sclerosis Cholangistis?Originally posted by laoda99:When u are sick, u become scared.....esp u know it is slow disease which eventually will cause ur liver to fail.....where got time/mood to quarrel after u know this?
Amazingly, my gf (who is only 3 months with me at that time) says she will fight the disease together with me with God's help......
Partake in so many holy communion at New Creation Church and join in their healing services, still no healing.........................
"By his stripes we are healed!" no matter how many times the pastor say also not healed.....after that went to Lighthouse Evangelism (my doc who saw me from young to big was from there and he recommend me to go there) which satan "was rebuked".....but no matter how many times satan was rebuked the sickness is still there...........
Nope...it's Hepatitis C......Originally posted by gasband:Hey laoda....what disease is that? Is it called Primary Sclerosis Cholangistis?
It wasn't any particular passage. I had read the new Testament from cover to end simply to show christians the inconsistencies in the bible. And it was in the midst of doing it one more time that it suddenly all in fell place in my mind and I was stunned myself. I had successfully shattered the faith of a few people before that with my arguments~ Then I stunned the fellas I was "attacking" by saying I believed in Christ. :pOriginally posted by Icemoon:so which bible passage converted you?
ok....my dad has primary sclerosis cholangitis....its a very slow, rare and incurable disease. It also slowly affects the liver and pancreas and it may lead to liver hardening and cancer eventually....Originally posted by laoda99:Nope...it's Hepatitis C......

Actually how can suddenly all fell in place?Originally posted by maven2:It wasn't any particular passage. No. I don't think see anytime soon that I will convert away from Christianity. But, one can never be to sure. The truth is more important than my "religion".
Although I perfectly understand why the christian faith of all faiths is one of the most attacked ones. I hated Chritians and Christianity once~
Well. It most certainly happened that way. I prefer logical thought and thinking over thumping someone with verses in the bible.Originally posted by Icemoon:Actually how can suddenly all fell in place?
Should be the more you study, the worse it becomes. I don't think there are many people who study the NT seriously and arrive at your conclusion.
Many, like Martin Luther, are converted because of certain biblical passages. Which is why I asked you the question.
I also studied the bible and church history, but not as detailed as you. The more we think [critically] about them, the worse they become. In fact because the bible is supposed to be a 'heavenly' book, we hold it to a higher standard. But when we do that, things fall apart.Originally posted by maven2:While I've studied the bible and church history quite "detailed-ly" (for the lack of a better word), these are just icing on the cake.
Hey .. will you be interested in a religion that starts with 'J'?Originally posted by maven2:It's just hard to explain the reason I have the faith. For the lack of better terms, it's like a carving on the heart. I believe in God. And for the moment, it is Christianity that corresponds most closely to my (innate) understanding.
Well said .. I agree with your attitude on engaging non believers. Actually I've been trying to do that also.Originally posted by maven2:Wouldn't it better that I explain the "misunderstood" verses and the premises from which they were derived. To show that they do indeed follow a logical course of thinking? Please note that I did not say I can prove God. Rather that, I can show that it is not illogical to believe.
I beg to differ.Originally posted by Icemoon:I also studied the bible and church history, but not as detailed as you. The more we think [critically] about them, the worse they become. But I have to say the theology is attractive though. Too bad many Christians today are missing out the good stuffs, their knowledge limited to the health and wealth gospel.
JW???Originally posted by Icemoon:Hey .. will you be interested in a religion that starts with 'J'?
You will of course forgive me if I do not know very many of the philosopher's and their teachings, or the teachings of the various "Doctors of the Faith" for a stubborn part in me believes that one is severly limited (by the opinion of the author) by reading things like that.Originally posted by Icemoon:Hey .. will you be interested in a religion that starts with 'J'?
I dun understand, u said ur conclusions come from the bible, but then again you said if one day the bible turns out to be a farce, it does not change the idea of God to u?????? I sense an irony here?Originally posted by maven2:It comes purely from my reflection and meditation on the wonder of life. And "coincidentally" the conclusions I come to, I then find them in the Bible.
For the sake of putting it to the extreme, should the Bible one day be shown to be a farce, it changes not the idea of the Christian God I have.
Christianity is not a religion of a Book.
If we understand this last statement, then it becomes easier to understand that how "worse", to use your term it becomes the more we read depends entirely on how much we understand of the basic tenets of the faith. For words, and events can mean several things to several opinionated minds. But which opinion? Which translation? Which interpretation?
What I can do, is read, and trust me, I'm very critical, and then see if its reconcilable with the rest of the Bible.
