The "us against them mentality" in organised religion.

  Good or bad? Topic for discussion.
  
  My take:
  The function of the early church was to spread the message of God. This is a good intention, and initially it was done using the correct methods - peace through peace. However sometimes it became "peace through power" instead. And when that was not succesful it became "peace through subversion".
  
  Now that the bible is free available and accessible anywhere, the function of organised religion has become obsolete. Every man should be his own parishioner, priest, and temple.

  Yes I agree we are to be invidual agents of God. We are to be a priest and a holy temple of His word. We are to be the channel to reflect Godly character.
  
  However, I do think that the 'organised religions' are needed so that we can enourage and build each other up. It is also needed to interprete God's word corporately. There's danger in interpreting God's word on our own and to our individual liking.
  
  God calls us to be a body of Christ, to be united in Him.
