  Personally, when things are going fine, i tend to get complacent and take things for granted. I do pray daily though.
  
  Beyond that, embarassingly, i turn to him mostly when i am desperate or when i find myself in sticky situations

  I try to, but sometimes fail to.
  
  "Small matters" are small because of accumulated experiences. You've encountered before and they are easy to handle. So I thank God for experiences good or bad, big or small.
