Why doesnt God intervene divinely?
One of the ways we can be sure of God is through encounters with him.
If God wanted to do divine stuffs eg healing, we will be sure of our encounters with God. -

Well, he did. around 2,000 yrs ago Jesus walked the earth, performed miracles and left a legacy. All these miracles were recorded in the Bible. And so were his acts so that all may believe.Originally posted by davidche:Why doesnt God intervene divinely?

I've always like how a good friend of mine once described Faith. She told me that a quiet knowing of God feels her with awe and wonder and amazement. Granted, there are times where we backslide and we doubt. But that's part of our faith journey. At least to me, i dun need to see miracles to believe. It's funny how you mention about encountering God. We encounter God everyday. In our prayers, in nature, in love, the list just goes on. Sorry if i am not answering your question. Because i probably don't know how to. Godspeed.

A simple analogy to answer your question is this:
God is the good side e.g United Nations.
Devil is the evil side e.g Terrorists.
Until the terrorists seize control of governments around the world and become a superpower openly, God has to play by the rules and fight the terrorists behind the scenes. e.g UN can only arrest terrorists if they have proof that the terrorists are planning something. UN cannot arrest terrorists who are doing legitimate business otherwise therewill be uproar and chaos among the general population. -
God doesn't intervene because:
1. God had already instituted natural laws to govern planet earth. You fall off a 10 storey building, you die.
2. Man had to be made responsible for their actions. You do the crime, you do the time.
3. Man does not want God to intervene.
Having said that.... yeah, God already intervened lah.... otherwise we'd all be doomed to go to hell. -
God doesn't intervene in all affairs of men because He has given all men the freedom of choice to decide for himself.
Secondly, you need to have faith before you see God and His works. If God manifests Himself to you before your eyes, you don't need faith to see Him already. It has become knowledge........ and faith has no place anymore......

You have been oversold on the notion of God.
There are lots of people who declare that God is benevolent, compassionate, just, all-things-good, blah blah blah.... and you believed them wholesale. That where the problem of God is. God isn't anything like what they say God is. It is all bs. They made it up.
God is just God. Nothing else. It is for you to direct your thoughts at, and distract you from your problems, so that you can deal with your problems unencumbered with worries. It is your expectations of God that is causing your problems with Him. He does not deliver, so you are dissapointed. It is not your fault. You were told nonsense about God.
Do not expect anything from God. Go on with your life as best as you can. And remember that there is truth in the precepts that a life lived well is a blessing. It is in your power to live well. It is up to you. That's why God doesn't intervene divinely.
That kitten separated from its mother by humans, is gonna die miserably of dehydration, starvation, or cold. Its up to you or one of you, not God to save it or let it die.
Don't ask what God can do for you, ask what you can do for God.
Then you won't be dissapointed. -

On another level, have you ever thought that God wants to work through His creation, i.e. us? He reveals Himself through us in our interaction with the people around us.
As Christians, we must be agents of His love, justice, truth, beauty, etc; we must be a reflection of Him. -

My Qn: If God wanted to heal me right, why doesnt he heal me directly,then i can know for sure it was God's work, which will strenthen my faith. Why does he heal me, eg through the doctor's hands and natural laws. Like that we will never be sure if it were God's work. -

If God has to heal you divinely, why did you need to fall sick in the first place? Why not just assume that everyone should not fall sick because of God's power?
Another way of looking at it.... if by dying one goes to heaven, why the need to be healed?

The thing is that these encounters are sometimes very unclear, whether it is really an encounter. Example, a man goes to benny hinn's crusade and after the healing from God, two days later, the pain in his hip is gone..
On one hand he may say God healed him, on the other hand it may be the psychological effect or even that it was just natural for the hip to recover after the 2 days. Now if God were to heal the hip immediately, then some doubts(some only) could have been avoided and it would make us almost certain of God's healing and intervention, thus encounter with God and thus the 'trueity' and 'livingty' of God.

Why must we see "miracles" so encounter God? Do we need an "out of this world" experience to believe of His existence? Does it mean that when miracles disappear, God cease to exists? -
