he wouldnt know he was a hebrew when he was a young mah, and being brought up in the egyptian royal family
Originally posted by TehJarVu:Agree. Not important at all.
is that so important?
the important thing is he had a real encounter with God at the burning bush and he worshipped and followed God after God called him...
after that he again witnessed the Almighty's miraculous acts and experienced His leading and guidance...
so where Jesus go when he was young till adulthood?Originally posted by mhcampboy:why isnt the history of a prophet not impt?

Exodus 2 (NRSV)
7Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, ‘Shall I go and get you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?’ 8Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Yes.’ So the girl went and called the child’s mother. 9Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Take this child and nurse it for me, and I will give you your wages.’ So the woman took the child and nursed it. 10When the child grew up, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and she took him as her son. She named him Moses,* ‘because’, she said, ‘I drew him out* of the water.’
11 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and saw their forced labour. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his kinsfolk. 12He looked this way and that, and seeing no one he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

How does one define importance? It is important only if it has value to us. According to the bible...
1. Moses is already in heaven.
2. Jesus has forgiven all his sins.
Thus what is the use of debating whether he worshipped idols or not? We all know worshipping idols is wrong. If you are worshipping idols currently, repent and God may forgive you.
However, do not debate whether Moses worshipped idols or not as an excuse to justify your own worshipping of idols.
that was the storyline they keep showing on tv!Originally posted by mhcampboy:wad i learnt abt moses is the show "ten commandments"...
but in the show, moses knew he was a hebrew when he was older... and he was dismayed and thus left the palace to be with his ppl...
of cos.. the importance of him meeting God it th utmost importance...i didnt deny thatOriginally posted by ben1xy:I'm going to be sticking my neck out a little. So correct me if i am wrong guys.
If we look at the incident of the golden Calf in Exodus, it could be taken as a form of Idol worship. This was probably influenced by the Egygtian culture at that time. So going along that lines, idol worship was probably pervasive.
However campy, as the other points out, that was before Moses met God. Whether or not Moses did worship idols, that's anyone's guess. I am almost positive that there are no historical written documents on this issue.
But like what the others pointed out, this isn't really crucial. I think what was more significant was what happened after when he was at Mount Horeb (some say this is Mt. Sinai) and he saw the Burning Bush.
I didn't say you were wrong ahOriginally posted by mhcampboy:of cos.. the importance of him meeting God it th utmost importance...i didnt deny that
