Why is good friday gazetted holiday but not easter?

why ah?
Isn't easter the more important holiday? Easter has been celebrated since the beginning of the bible canon (because Anthanasius wrote a letter to his flocks about easter and he listed out the books of the bible).
But never heard before last time got good friday leh?
Does it matter whether you have a public holiday on friday or monday?
If it doesnt matter, we should take the more important Christian holiday.
Or issit because some Christian minister wanted a free day on friday and sunday? As opposed to only a free day on sunday. -

I think it's because the 4 races of Singapore is each allowed to have 2 days of holiday for their faith.
Chinese - have the two days of CNY.
Malay - have the two Hari Rayas - Haji and Puasa
Indian - has Vesak Day and Deepavali,
Eurasian - have Christmas and Good Friday. -

Both Good Friday and Easter Monday are holidays in Europe.
Some kids get an extended break too. -

My pastor explained that the word "good" in good Friday has got to be seen in the light on someone willing to die for humanity. ... Singapore holidays probably decided long time ago by garmen who gathered the religious leaders and gave them some choices, eg "you'd get two days, pick two of the best for yourself"

Sometime ago Easter Monday was a holiday here.
The Singapore Grand Prix was always held during this weekend.
Do not know when Easter Monday holiday was taken away.
We now have 11 holidays. The eight mentioned above + New Year's Day, Labour Day and National Day. Also Election Day will also be a holiday, when the time comes to elect the President,.... or the PAP. -
Pascha is already a public holiday. Why? Because it is on Sunday!

St. Irenaeus pre-dates St. Athanasius by quite a fair number of years.
Anyway, personally, I can't understand the concept of 'Easter Sunday is more important than Good Friday'. It is quite alien to Catholic theology.

if you think they will ever increase the number of public holidays for the mass, you need a re-evaluation of their policies

both good friday and easter sunday is impt cos without Christ's death, there is no resurrection rite? And Good friday is for us to remember how Christ has died for us for our sins eh..Easter sunday is to celebrate the resurrection of Christ and broke the curse of sins from the devil for us!!!!
