Special Announcement
The Archbishop has advised that in line with the universal law, there will be from now on, no abstinence from meat on fridays.
obligatory fast & abstinence be observed only on ash wednesday and good friday. however penance of various ways (self-denial and discipline, from excessive food, physical comfort and entertainment, etc) be observed
congrats!!!Originally posted by mhcampboy:
we process into the church holding palmsOriginally posted by Icemoon:Palm Sunday you all got ride donkey?
in the past, Catholics abstein from meat on fridays. But they changed that a little now. It is more as a sgn of penance when u stay away from meat, but its ironic that you go for a seafood buffet instead. So i guess, the meat thing gradually lost its meaning. So we're encouraged that if we eat meat on fridays, we do ohter forms of absteinance like maybe stay away from TV or chatting on msn (to me this is TOUGH!!) etc.Originally posted by Icemoon:
same here same here!! i was sooo excited to carry it tat the archbishop asked me... "having fun?"Originally posted by ben1xy:we process into the church holding palms
yup. most churches have that. this thursday is Maundy Thursday. We commenmorate the institution of the Eucharist. Its really meaningful! After the evening mass there will be no ringing of bells, the altar is stripped or the crucifix is covered. and we will wait till Easter vigil before reinstituting all these things.Originally posted by Icemoon:oh ya, any of you attended the Stations of the Cross at St. Joseph Church? Read on its website it is on every friday during Lent.
