Who going to rise up as CGL? You?Originally posted by soulwinner:This year going to rise up to be a cell leader.... 100,000 memeber goal...
actually I'd found the claim quite funny.... CGL for 100,000 member cell group.Originally posted by M©+square:Who going to rise up as CGL? You?

No it is the church goal to have 100,000 memeber by ester 2008...Originally posted by Chin Eng:actually I'd found the claim quite funny.... CGL for 100,000 member cell group.
The whole sentence didn't make sense at all!Originally posted by Chin Eng:actually I'd found the claim quite funny.... CGL for 100,000 member cell group.
FCBC seemed to have stuck at sub 15k members(correct me if i'm wrong)Originally posted by soulwinner:No it is the church goal to have 100,000 memeber by ester 2008...

not yours.....Originally posted by soulwinner:Pls also share which church are you from....
In itself, a 10,000 member cell group, is known historically by another name - the church. Rationale: A cell is a small portion of the larger entity, hence a cell consists of small number, many cells form the Body of Christ.Originally posted by soulwinner:I have meet someone who has a 10,000 members in his cell group..
haha... I try my best.... sometimes folks here just write incoherent statements.Originally posted by M©+square:The whole sentence didn't make sense at all!
Unker you're good. You tried to make sense out of it!
unker ... you very right in your explaination on cell group ...Originally posted by Chin Eng:In itself, a 10,000 member cell group, is known historically by another name - the church. Also in itself, such a claim is merely a play with words. Call the church a cell group also can, but the reality is, the Cell Group concept is not designed to run with anything more than 10 or 12 people. Beyond that number, it ceases to be effective. As a matter of fact, cells are suppose
to split when it hits 12.
Therefore it is impossible to have a 10,000 member cell group. It is, however, possible to have a 10,000 cell group church. Let's be careful with the terminology.
So IMO, the claim that one has 10,000 member is at best an egotistical claim and at worst an outright lie.
I agree, 12 is an arbitrary figure. But if one is to refer to the handbook of CGs by Lawrence Khong and Ralph Neighbours, the theory is that the cell must not be too numerically large. By and large, I don't believe there are cell groups with membership (even blue moon type) of more than 15.Originally posted by vince69:unker ... you very right in your explaination on cell group ...
but hoh ... the split@12 is based on regular attendance, most cell not like this, so when its said to have 10-12 regular members (it could have 20-30members on paper, most only appear once in a blue moon type).
... correct lor! that's why I say any one who claim to be a leader of 10,000 strong member cell group is hao siao one lah, because such a claim basically discredit the purpose of the formation of cell group.Originally posted by vince69:cell groups, normally meet either at a member home or a room in the church, hence among other names given are house churches, home cells, care groups ...etc, so its not physically to have a 10,000 members cell. furthermore cell groups are started to foster close relationship among the members for mutual support and fellowship which a large church is lacking in, hence to have a large group really defeat this purpose.
Hmm ... interesting, given the G12 movement is more towards long term mentor/discipleship type of relationship, which differ from how a cell group behaved which is grow & split, I am suprised that its still being refered to as a cell group/cell leader, I would have thought Mentor/Disciple will be more appropriate.Originally posted by soulwinner:This year going to rise up to be a cell leader.... 100,000 memeber goal...

ok, later tonight, I go home and see if I can find that handbook... haha ...Originally posted by Chin Eng:I agree, 12 is an arbitrary figure. heard this from my sister.... her cell group is basically a Bible study for MEN, the women are in the bedroom looking after bawling and brawling kids.Originally posted by vince69:yes, its true, on paper, no cell group should grow beyond 15 and its effectiveness deminished. also, imagine 15 adults + children squeezed into the living room of a HDB flat ...
CG does have it purpose in the ministry of the church, especially so when it comes to a more closer support group level Reason being, in a church setting locally here, most people would just come, attend service, go home. With CG setting, its easier to foster a more personalised and closer relationship, people in CG tends to know each other better, and more able to share and support each other (being in a ministry helps too, but not all church members are in ministries)...Originally posted by Chin Eng:heard this from my sister.... her cell group is basically a Bible study for MEN, the women are in the bedroom looking after bawling and brawling kids.
I've stopped joining any CG because I really don't see the purpose at all.
Yeap, in my church in s'pore we recently started a CG for young adults which my gf attends. And looking at how things are going, it is evident that the ties and freindship and support are strengthening.Originally posted by vince69:CG does have it purpose in the ministry of the church, especially so when it comes to a more closer support group level Reason being, in a church setting locally here, most people would just come, attend service, go home.
