Are we as a forum supposed to aim for ratings?

Firstly i need to clarify my stand that the reason to aim for ratings is to increase the area of influence. SImply said, more people would patronise forums in top 10 THAN forums in top 20.
High ratings benefit
1) This would aid in spreading the word of God. isnt this our sole mission as christians?
Having too many people who starts threads like in chit chat would not be a problem as we now have 2 regular mods and a good set of rules.
Plus we also can put our rules to the test.
2) more rating is more activity. With the set of rules in place, i am sure more people patronage will cause more constructive discussion, thus luring more good-minded people in and causing even more great discussions.This will create a good cycle. -

This is assuming the high post count is due to contructive posts and discussions. Just hope it won't be a case of 1 step forward and 2 step backwards. Whereby we end up becoming a stumbling block rather than helping others to grow. -

Should Christian forums suppose to aim for ratings? No. Because ratings is secondary. Of cos, if this forum can have high ratings by it's nature. Then it's good news.
If ratings is the aim. Then this forum is considered a Forum majoring on Christian topics. Not considered a Christian Forum.
Underlying motive is important. The primary purpose this forum needs to be sorted out very clearly.

maybe this forum need stookie, rooky, ctx, they are good spammer tho, will help in rating

We will need to be careful here with our way of wordings if we are to really spread the Word of God through this medium for our testimonies or manner of speech, sometimes our way of conversing will be under the microscope of many people here. We cannot 'suka suka' say 'this' and then do 'that', right? We have to be accountable to God with the way we say, the way we think and the way we act. We show our love to others as to how God showed His love to us. We have to be HUMBLE in every aspect of conversation and actions.
Failure to even consider these will only show how shallow we are actually and we will be remembered as 'talk big' in the eyes of others. -

Chit chat type of threads - king kai (cantonese word, you may not understand) is not a crime Aunt Agony type of threads - anyone got any personal problem and wants a Christian perspective is fine too Sharing of interest like the Gundam thread, or the Lamborghini thread also can be fun, being Christian does not deprive one of a hobby.

ratings help achieve our purpose. Thus, ratings is not an aim but a way to achieve the forum's purpose.

Even after pointing out that the quality of discussion is lacking, you still think that rating and activity is a effective tool for reaching the purpose of this forum?

Why is there lack in quality?
1) some people who suddenly wants to argue, then suddenly remains quiet(not serious in discussing)
2) Lack of people with good opinions.
3) lack of people with substance.
4) no set of rules to wave away the 'bad ones' that is causing the downgrade of quality. eg: anti christians, clones, spamers.. 4) we already have a set of rules plus 2 effective mods. 1)~ 3) can be improved if there is a wider range of forumers.
So a crate of apples with 1 good and 5 bad =vs.= two crates of apples with 2 goods and 10 bad. The way i see it, the bad ones can be taken care by the rules and mods. We will be left with more goods with more crates of apples. (Of course not too many that we cant take care.) -
Do not confuse activity with results. I don't think forum rating can be a good measure of the effectiveness of EH. It does tell us the 'click-rate' of our topics.
I feel that if the discussions here remain as words on the internet and does not produce any God-inspired change in your life, then the forum rating is meaningless.
I hope the want to increase ratings does not lead to 'making noise'. -
