no idea, just find it a rare occasion for unker to put in something that is so totally irrelevant to the topic, so come in and give some 'support' ...Originally posted by laurence82:what happened?
Not really, it's the one and the same religion.Originally posted by vince69:no idea, just find it a rare occasion for unker to put in something that is so totally irrelevant to the topic, so come in and give some 'support' ...
Zoroastrianism? Of course I knowOriginally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Unker Chin Eng, tot you should know the connection mah... It was brought up in a National Geographic program.
What do you think of the historic relationship between Islam, Christianity and Zoroastrianism as mentioned by NatGeo? Is it a plausible happening?Originally posted by Chin Eng:Zoroastrianism? Of course I know
Christian theology was influenced by Persian dualism .. not sure whether Zoroastrianism has a hand in it.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:What do you think of the historic relationship between Islam, Christianity and Zoroastrianism as mentioned by NatGeo? Is it a plausible happening?
The Christian side of me says, boh ngai!Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:What do you think of the historic relationship between Islam, Christianity and Zoroastrianism as mentioned by NatGeo? Is it a plausible happening?
i tot so tooOriginally posted by Chin Eng:The Christian side of me says, boh ngai!
The pragmatic side of me says because of how culture is interlinked it is entirely possible that for each faith, there are elements from outside that creeps into it.
I try not to walk around with blinders.....
.... waiting to get slammed from those who are more fervent than meself
maybe I am, to some.Originally posted by laurence82:i tot so too
you are threading on a thin and dangerous line
not sure of persian dualism, but influence from Judaism would be there, however cultural wise, I think there may be some influence from the Egyptian on the Jewish culture.Originally posted by Icemoon:Christian theology was influenced by Persian dualism .. not sure whether Zoroastrianism has a hand in it.
isn't this a 'forbidden city' type of discussion?Originally posted by Icemoon:Do you guys think the three kings know the Ming Sect kungfu?
lol .. that forum the last post was in september last year.Originally posted by vince69:isn't this a 'forbidden city' type of discussion?
*start lighting up a fire for grilling unker ....Originally posted by Chin Eng:maybe I am, to some.
but at a personal level, I don't see any conflict.
I accept the message of God as the gospel truth. However I also feel that when this message is handed down to men, various flavours are added into this gospel. Such addition may not be done purposely, but over time and over culture.
One such occurence is the image of Jesus. It is not possible that Jesus is a white dude with long flowing hair that looked permed.
... I am still waiting for the more "fervent" to grill me on this stand.
ok loh ... we go lounge to talk about this over some kopi ..Originally posted by Icemoon:lol .. that forum the last post was in september last year.
I doubt there can be any conflict based on physical evidence(carbon dating) of the Zorasterism believers and early Christians conhabiting peacefully in the same land. In fact, we even got Ethopian Jews and Orthodox Christians doing so up to now.Originally posted by Chin Eng:maybe I am, to some.

my bad, I don't mean adding to the gospel as in the Word of God. I meant the gospel as per the practices of the physical church.Originally posted by vince69:I disagree with you on the part that says "flavours are added into this gospel". I do not think its added to the gospel as per the gospels written in the scripture (Bible).
However, there may be flavors added to the teaching of the gospel as well as the traditions and practices handed down through the various generations of the church (flavors such as cultural upbringing, personal ideals and preferances ...etc)
(this part for fun one )

because Constantine adopted the church after the gospel was composed.Originally posted by Chin Eng:but having said that, didn't we come across somewhere the issue that the gospel is given a Roman/Greco flavour
