bible handbook??

do you guys have any titles to recomend?
The book is supposed to explain the verses of the bible as i read it along including basic synopsis and some history would be great. -
isn't it the study bible?
Bible handbook explains the background and history of the bible, not biblical verses. -

a good evangelical set you can get is by william barclay
there is a catholic bookshop at the gold hill square area (forgot the name oredi)
it sells printed in india copies
a set is about fifty over dollars
the william barclay commentaries give you a good overview
but one has to realise that commentaries are interpretations by individuals
and interpretations are subjective -
