actually this type of behaviour is nothing new and is not restricted to Christianity. We pick up a hobby or sports or anything of interest, we will go through a period of quick pick-up, it will plateau and may drop.
having said that, there are many of us actually grow more and become very involved with a ministry in church, therefore, it is not always true that all new Christians fall off. I have seen many grow from strength to strength - all these depends on the grounding and the support of the church - which is why it is important to get oneself involved in church.
Just a slight correction?Originally posted by Icemoon:I think the "trick" is to focus on God and not the church.
The church today is responsible for much of the backsliding because their focus is very often wrong. They tell new believers - hey it is very hip and happening here.
Among the 36000 denominations, how many of them truly equip you with the proper foundation?
i agree with Icy and MC, no proper foundation and understanding.Originally posted by Icemoon:no proper foundation.
Maybe the church is like a community centre to them. You can participate in CC activities your whole life also.Originally posted by M©+square:Just a slight correction?
Do you happen to see there are many who don't focus on God but still can stay in church and serve all their lives?

Ah this is when you should go and witness for yourself what are the real reasons.Originally posted by Icemoon:Maybe the church is like a community centre to them. You can participate in CC activities your whole life also.
Perhaps one reason why people convert is to find friends and take part in group activities.
