It is ok to attend 2 churches if u think u have the time.Originally posted by bobby35:Hello there, I'm very new in this forum and frankly, this is actually my first post. Hehe...
I need some clarification. As the topic stated above, is it OK to attend 2 churches on the same day?
On one hand, I 'heavily' got involve at Lutheran Church and also got baptised on that same church. And I'm very commited. The service commences at 10:30 in the morning.
On the other hand, recently, my other close friend since secondary level invited me to his church at FGA (Full Gospel Assembly). This service commences at 7:30 in the morning till 9:30am.
U see.. The time of both churches didn't clash. So, is it ok to attend 2 churches? Both are protestant (I think ~ as for FGA).
As far as I understand, as Christians, we should threat Sunday as a holy (Sabath) day i.e. not to work but to worship god - and to rest. As long as we have our heart to come back to christ is good enough.
However:-
The only thing that keeps me in doubt is:-
1. The method of worship is absolutely different (so is it ok?) and
2. Is it ok to have 2 holy communions on the same day?(To drink the red wine and eat the bread)
Many thanks for any reply and may god bless you

Luteran is one I had never attended before, not that I had attended many different denominations (just Presby, Anglican, Methodist, Baptist, Charismatic, Catholic ..)Originally posted by countdracula:lutheran...a dying breed...which church are you in? i used to be in a lutheran church....

what do you mean by theology of the cross?Originally posted by Icemoon:they got teach you the theology of the cross or not?
Meaning Luther's theology.Originally posted by countdracula:what do you mean by theology of the cross?
they are lutheran, who else but to follow luther.....if the pastor retains tradition, then he would use luther's cathesicm for baptism classes...Originally posted by Icemoon:Meaning Luther's theology.
His most important contribution to the Protestant faith - Theology of the Cross.
err...I'm not really sure what is thoelogy of the cross. Sorry, hehe... but as far as I know, we use the traditional way to worship god. Unlike other churches (take FGA or Calvary for example), we (in Lutheran) confest by reading the script which is found in the liturgist. Then we praise by singing the hymn from the book provided by the church. Just put it simply it's quite traditional lar . I might be wrong, I heard from my cousins saying that the way of worshipping is quite similar to any catholic churches in which they use Anglican style. Not sure how true it is but if I'm wrong...hey, no offence yahOriginally posted by Icemoon:bobby35 .. your lutheran church got teach you Theology of the Cross or not?
Err...as or the conveniency, so far so good, I've tried twice already. The distance is not 'out of way'. Like,... if you take a ruler, u travel 30 cm (from 0 cm) to ur first church. Then minus 10 cm to your second. So, just put it simply it's quite convenient lar.Originally posted by laoda99:Are u comfortable having two forms of worship?
For holy communion, is Lutheran very strict on this?

Yup...compared to other churches, Lutheran got the least ppl and we always see the same faces every Sunday. It's good lar. Everybody knows each other and gets a chance to serve god. Unlike other big churches, (like I've attended FGA) we just worship by singing some songs and then go home... hehe frankly it's actually my friends who brought me there. He knows that my current worhip starts at 10:30 so he ask me to join at 7:30 in the morning. Somore it's not out of way. So, come to think of it....hmmm....not really a bad idea also...Originally posted by sillyme:Welcome to Eternal Hope
I think it is perfectly fine too. Just wondering why did your friend invite you to his church if he knows you already are attending one. Was it a one-off invitation?

Also, I noticed that the layout of the lutheran church is also quite similar to this Catholic church (in the pic). I haven't been there until I saw this picture from another forum

Yup that's right. Lutheran church is very similar to the Catholic Church, cuz it's the first group that broke away from the Catholic Church. When Martin Luther founded the Lutheran denomination, he did not intend to change the teachings.Originally posted by bobby35:Sorry, I was away...

Why don't you invite your good friend to your church? That saves a lot of trouble, you know. And at the same time, you can still be devoted to your faith.Originally posted by bobby35:Hello there, I'm very new in this forum and frankly, this is actually my first post. Hehe...

High Church Anglicans and Anglo-Catholics also use crucifixes.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Yup that's right. I'm not sure about the layout. But I know Lutherans still use crucifixes while the other Protestants are against it (cuz they think only Catholics use that).
