Because it is in the Catholic Church whereby all truth is found amid all heresies. Mind you, most orthodox christians from the 1st century onwards are called catholics. Christian these days refer to both catholics and protestants. Why should i be so generic???Originally posted by Icemoon:One of the most shocking thing from you was that you consider yourself Catholic first then Christian.
Regardless of how the early followers were indeed called Christians in Acts.
I wonder to whom do you swore your allegiance? God (Christ) or the Church?
Actually no .. Christian these days refer only to Protestant.Originally posted by Pope Nicholas:Because it is in the Catholic Church whereby all truth is found amid all heresies. I swear my allegiance to Christ because I am in the Church he founded.
We must hold to the Christian religion and to [b]communication in her Church, which is Catholic and which is called Catholic not only by her own members but even by all her enemies. For when heretics or the adherents of schisms talk about her, not among themselves but with strangers, willy-nilly they call her nothing else but Catholic. For they will not be understood unless they distinguish her by this name which the whole world employs in her regard.” Augustine, The True Religion, 7:12 (A.D. 390).
Even St Augustine calls the Church Catholic...not Christian Church etc etc.

He did all those by creating a Church. How do u recieve the sacraments, by being in the Catholic Church. Protestantism is cafeteria christinaity. I agree the Protestant Reformers were brilliant minds but protestantism today is a far cry from its glorious past. Such brilliant theologies thier Reformers Fathers came out with but do the protestants today use it? Most of their apologist sites sprout lies like marian worshippers etc etc. Why do they demonise...perhaps they are afraid. So few sites actuallie try to preach the truth and attempt to refute it using proper theologies. Why? Are they really christ church???Originally posted by Icemoon:Your statement tells a lot you know?
How come you never say something like because He is my Lord and Saviour; I'm given a new life in Him; He justifed me before God etc.?
The term RCC was coined by the Anglicans in the 16th century.Originally posted by laoda99:Hmmm.....like what I said last time: Catholic=universal
It does not mean RCC leh....

They call themselves Christians to hide the main flaw that they do not possese any Church. As u said, they can change to any denomination they wish...thier version of christianity is simple - Me Jesus Bible. Whiever denomination helps them grow better in faith is good....is that what Christ wanted? 'Has Christ been divided' ( in Bible)
Catholism - Church Bible Jesus Sacraments.
I believe in the Holy Apostolic CATHOLIC CHurch - Nicene Creed.
He also evaded my questioned and talked about skibi.Originally posted by Icemoon:erm .. I was talking about YOU.
Why you go and talk about others?
I know God as my Father through the Catholic Church who acts as my mother.Originally posted by Icemoon:erm .. I was talking about YOU.

and Jesus Christ is the son?Originally posted by Pope Nicholas:I know God as my Father through the Catholic Church who acts as my mother.
Jesus = God rememberOriginally posted by Icemoon:and Jesus Christ is the son?
The Lord is subservient to the Church?
Which is why you should strengthen your Protestant brethen right? Steer them towards classical Protestant theology, which teaches the believers to focus on the Cross rather than the "me".Originally posted by Pope Nicholas:Protestantism is cafeteria christinaity. The question is you have father and mother, what about the son?Originally posted by Pope Nicholas:Jesus = God remember
I didnt say the Eternal Father, i said God LOL.
Tio make it clearer: I know Triune God as my father through the Catholic Church who acts as my Mother.
The Church is also Christ Bride...so it makes sense.
how come the mother is capitalised now? previously it was the other way round.Originally posted by Pope Nicholas:Tio make it clearer: I know Triune God as my father through the Catholic Church who acts as my Mother.
I am the son...haha. God is my father and Church is my mother. I know God through the Church (sacraments) and more about His Church from God (scripture and tradition or Word of God) as well.Originally posted by Icemoon:The question is you have father and mother, what about the son?
Whats that?Originally posted by Icemoon:Like .. is Augustine a monergist or synergist?
