Now our soul belongs to God. And it has always been that way.

So god bought our souls from the devil with the blood of jesus? And now we belong to god?Originally posted by Skibi:Our souls have been bought with the blood of Jesus and belong to God. There is no way to sell your soul to the devil as it does not belong to you in the first place. Therefore in the case of those who have been led astray... do not be conned by devil worshippers who claim that once your soul is sold your fate is sealed - the path to repentance and the door to heaven is always open.
This is not to say that we should dabble in the occult. Although Satan has no hold over our souls he can still direct his minions to destroy our physical bodies or cause all manner of grievious harm.

Romans 6:23 NIVAccording to the bible, everyone who sin must die. God bought our souls so that those who do not follow the Jewish tradition of offering burnt offerings to absolve their sins can be saved.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I finally get it now. God owned our souls in the first place but still made jesus pay with his blood. So, now that god has bought our souls from himself using jesus' blood, our souls still belong to god. That makes so much sense.Originally posted by Skibi:According to the bible, everyone who sin must die. Right. So, god bought our souls with jesus' blood from who?Originally posted by Skibi:We forfeited our right to heaven because of sin. That's why Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden. Everytime we sin, we are essentially selling our souls to sin(or attempting to sell). However the power of Jesus' blood is such that it is enough to pay for all the sins we commit in the past, present and future. Thus our souls belong to God no matter what we do because of Jesus' sacrifice - in the past this was not the case.
This is not to say that we should sin with impunity as ultimately God will judge whether your character is holy enough to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Holy character... biblically, this would means flawless, perfectly righteous, complete and without blemish (not a single spot), meaning have to achieve 100% not more, not less, must be exact. 99.99% still not good enough.
(oh.... good deeds does not cancel bad deeds/mistakes)
I kinda agree. If u do penance and make sacrifices, u will atone ur sins. As a catholic, whenever u attend Mass and participate in the sacrifice, u make a perfect sacrifice with infinte merits to atone ur sins. Furthermore, u can undergo the sacrament of penance to allow the Church to exercise her apostolic powers of binding and loosing sins.Originally posted by Skibi:If our character deemed worthy in God's eyes even the smallest good deed counts and God will absolve our sins. My good deeds is to reflect God's goodness.
'Selling your soul' is just a figure of speech. The devil cannot own you because he has no authority to. He cannot buy you because he does not have anything to pay with.
Why you never mention Jesus?Originally posted by Pope Nicholas:I kinda agree. If u do penance and make sacrifices, u will atone ur sins. Penance, sacrifice, Mass, Confession - the key to victory.
