The paradox of truthOriginally posted by vince69:Icey is refering to the answer most people will give to this question
then again, like I said earlier,
We thought we know the answer, but are we sure that this answer we had is the correct answer? heck, different people have different answer anyway...
ah,Originally posted by laurence82:The paradox of truth
Is truth the truth or the truth we all think it is?
Sigh

But the truth, as long as a human voice say it is, can be the Truth?Originally posted by vince69:ah,
the Truth will always be the Truth, but what we wanted to think it is, may not be what it really is.
And you forgot the author is giving biblical answers .. not any answer you shout out in a tutorial class to gain participation points.Originally posted by vince69:Icey is refering to the answer most people will give to this question

ok.... I think we need to approach this from the standpoint of what we (each one of us) would do if we are trying to start a FAQ of our faith. We will be asking ourselves: what kind of questions would be asked and what kind of questions will be interesting.Originally posted by Icemoon:No one created God. yes, but he is not giving the answer to you specifically. I don't think we can judge the page (and the question) based on the more refined knowledge of those who are here. I also don't think sankaran is trying to engage anyone in a very high level intellectual discussion.Originally posted by Icemoon:And you forgot the author is giving biblical answers .. not any answer you shout out in a tutorial class to gain participation points.
You don't have to agree .. but the answer should be biblical.Originally posted by Chin Eng:In terms of the validity of the question, I believe it had been asked many times here in EH, and the range of answers varied from God is the supreme being to God is not the supreme being.
The fact that most of us agree with the "standard answer" does not necessarily mean that everyone agrees with this answer.
Doctrinally speaking, I don't think sankaran's answers are wrong.

so the arguements is whether the author's answers are wrong??Originally posted by Chin Eng:ok.... ... and that would be: God is the alpha and omega???? the beginning and the end???Originally posted by Icemoon:You don't have to agree .. but the answer should be biblical.
So now only God knows the answer to the question .. is this true? Did not the Bible reveal to us the nature of God?
It must be logical.Originally posted by sillyme:There is no argument. I think it's a nice discussion.
Come to think of it. From a Christian perspective, what constitutes a "right answer"? Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will reveal the Truth to us. Therefore there must be some answers we already know.
Personally I think the following must be valid,
- it must be biblical
- it must be in-chorus with the whole Body of Christ, i.e. the Church
What else do you think should be critical?
In the beginning was the Word.Originally posted by Chin Eng:... and that would be: God is the alpha and omega???? the beginning and the end???
ok, then let me rephrase the question: what happened in the beginning? because in the context of those phrases, there is a beginning.
The author claimed he does not have the answer liao.Originally posted by davidche:so the arguements is whether the author's answers are wrong??
So what happened in the beginning?Originally posted by Icemoon:In the beginning was the Word.
Do you mean to tell me the Word was created?
Which beginning?Originally posted by Chin Eng:So what happened in the beginning?
let me complete the verse for youOriginally posted by Icemoon:In the beginning was the Word.

God is beyond our human reasoning; He is also above what we, humans, can experience.Originally posted by Icemoon:It must be logical.
If God says He cannot lie .. then He cannot lie.
So who created the Word?Originally posted by vince69:let me complete the verse for you
John 1:1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Luckily we are made in the image of Him. So there must be something in Him which is in us also.Originally posted by sillyme:God is beyond our human reasoning; He is also above what we, humans, can experience.
But I personally think that all the truths that He choose to reveal to us, it should be logical or at least understandable.
in my vague memories....Originally posted by Icemoon:Which beginning?
Tai chu or qi chu?
dave .. are you here?
you very jewish hor?Originally posted by Icemoon:Luckily we are made in the image of Him. So there must be something in Him which is in us also.
Christians and Jews agree that God is way beyond our human understanding. So how do we understand Him? Their solution differ.
Christians "invent" the Trinity.
Jews "invent" the Ten Sefiroths.
