David fell into sin, terribly. He committed adultery and etc. But when he repented he got pardoned and restored back to fellowship.Originally posted by alvin74:hi all fellow christians, what are your views on christians who have committed the sin of adultery? Will God still punish them to hell even when they realised the gravity of their sin & repents from it? Pls advise. Tks..
Oh wow? So I can fuck around and I will be forgiven?Originally posted by Samuelpsw:Our God is an awesome God....for our sake, He died for us for our sins...so if any couple that commit adultery and truly repent of their trespasses...God will still forgive them but DO NOT take that for granted...rem that DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT...

Its best not to even do it at all, but if you can't help it then REALLY PRAY and be REPENTANT. For if you say say only and have no intention of repenting, even if God forgives you, the people on Earth may not be as forgiving.Originally posted by Icemoon:you can only fark around once .. beg for forgiveness and promise not to do it again.
tks alot for this comment!Originally posted by Ironside:David fell into sin, terribly. He committed adultery and etc. But when he repented he got pardoned and restored back to fellowship.
actually after he got pardoned for his adultery .. he still commited other sins right?Originally posted by alvin74:tks alot for this comment!
I tink repentance is more of acknowledging his sins and willingness to NOT commit it again. Going back to his former wife? I tink its better not to but rather focus his life to serve God.Originally posted by ben1xy:what does repentance constitute then?
if this guy committs adultery and is unrepentant. he then goes on to divorce his wife to remarry. 5 years later , remorse strikes and he repents. What is real repentence? going back to the former wife?
but there is still the judgement that will come from God..Originally posted by Ironside:David fell into sin, terribly. He committed adultery and etc. But when he repented he got pardoned and restored back to fellowship.
real repentance is STOP doing it altogether.Originally posted by ben1xy:what does repentance constitute then?

Repentance is a change of attitude towards sin. It is not an act or acts. Repentant acts are the result of the changed attitude in the heart. It is possible for one to do repentant acts without having a repentant attitude in the heart.Originally posted by ben1xy:what does repentance constitute then?

then wad abt this bible quote :Originally posted by Ironside:Joh 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
yes, a repentant heart would result in repentant actions. The only grounds for divorce in the Bible is when one of the parties has committed immoralilty. The innocent is now at liberty to marry in that case. Or she can choose to remain unmarried and accept his husband again if the husband repents.Originally posted by ben1xy:good point. i accept that
going by your way of explanation ironside, would not a repentant heart not result in a repentant actions.
i do not exactly know how Protestant's view marriage. In Catholicism, it's a covenant that unless under certain sever circumstances should never be broken. I view the Protestant way to be similar?
In this case, should not a repentant heart nudge the husband back to his original marriage with God as the witness? or is this too idealistic?

Originally posted by Ironside:sori but verse 11 which says "were some of you", do these "were some of you" non-believers living in sinful lifestyles before receiving salvation & hence when they were converted, they could get their sins washed & forgotten...
then the next verse then says [notice the words in bold:
1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Co 6:11 [b]And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
