if this is a forum for all religions, then, yes, we should have representation from all religion... no different from the Singapore Religion Council (or whatever name they call themselves)....
but this forum is a Christian forum, a little leaning towards Christianity can and should be expected.
this is no different from the Buddhist forum or the New Age one.... the moderator has to be a believer or a practitioner of this philosophy.
to me while the moderator should be impartial, he should also be one within the faith because only with this position, can he have the authority and right to keep everything in order. On one hand, he is the sheriff of this forum, on the other hand, he should also be a councillor to those in need.
I am aware that some may disagree with me on the issue of having a Christian-only team of moderators, but that's my opinion and I stand by it.
... perhaps then, we should now have a forum for religious discussion, that way, anyone can be a mod. -
Actually I think there is enough mod already and my impression of mod should simply just do minimal task such as deleting sensitive materials (such as revealing identity of another without consent) or ridiculous personal attack threads which we used to see before. If there is really a need to place a mod, then I think laurence and kaister r good candidates for being mod. Wat is the point of adding another christian mod when there r already 3 ? Personally I think forum should follow the example of government such as Malaysia od Phillipines where the gov still should be secular to ensure any particular group right is not infinged. The selector of mod, or head of the forum is still sillyme, isn't tat already enough ?
I don't want and don't have the time to be mod.. furthermore, i am not respected here and any decision I made won't be supported -

2) Refer to first post, current mod not active enough in forums, need somebody more active or here more often. Especially to deal with trolls.
3) I'm not even going to explain the Christian mod part. I for sure won't expect ~ Buddhism: Wisdom Bliss ~ to have a Catholic mod.

Just one, which I don't think was really a nomination anyway. More like just throwing up the more prominent names. Be it prominent for good or bad reasons. To be honest, how many people would actually want to see him as a mod whether Christian or non-Christian forum, afterthe reputation he has gotten from Eternal Hope and Speaker's Corner. I seriously don't see him as such. Maybe he has his own sense of moderating. But this thread wouldn't be started if everything seemed perfect in the first place, much less for the discussion to carry on for a few pages.

EH will continue to be a place for discussing Christian topics in sgForums. It will be a gathering for Christians so that the Christian views can be heard. It will be a place for non-believers to ask questions they want an answer to.
I thank HB for this thread. In the past, I have approached a few members to take up the moderating role, without success however. The invitation to them is still open.
EH will continue to be moderated by born-again Christians only. And the election of moderators will only be decided by the moderators. Having said that, the role of a moderator here is minimal. As SIS have pointed out, our role here is to remove/lock threads/posts that are degrading/offensive. However, since this is a forum for Christianity-based topics, and judgment-calls to moderate threads need to be made from a Christian point-of-view (mostly), moderators must be Christians only.
We may try to steer discussions in a general direction. But I think that can be done by all members or the threadstarter. We can take up the role of councillor, but I think that can be done by all compassionate Christians.
Since I cannot be checking this forum consistently, and my co-mod is absent, I have asked a few people to assist me to watch over the forum. They will contact me when there is action that needs to be done by me. I will continue to look our for new moderators.
I will continue to come in regularly to check for PMs. Please write to me if there are any concerns. However, I will not be able to participate actively in discussions. I will try my best. -
One more thing to clarify.
EH is a subforum of sgForums. EH moderators have privileges to lock and/or remove topics, and edit posts only. We do not have administration rights to ban members or server administration rights.
sgForums also do not have the capability to transfer forum ownership. -
