I went to SAC underground worship hall on friday night .. cool!!
It is not really big .. compared to the most famous underground worship hall in Singapore.
But I find it much better than the other underground worship hall in the west.
1. furniture .. instead of seats, they have benches. They have cushions tucked behind the bench in front of you, for you to kneel (I assume). This facilitates praying. When you are tired (like I was that day) .. you can even lean forward and rest your body weight on the bench in front of you .. haha
2. architecture .. the stage is a bit disappointing as I expected it to be bigger. The altar is ok, just like the one you find in RC churches. And once again, the architecture and interior design is much better than the other one. They have this cross on the wall behind the stage (expected) .. no big deal you say BUT this is the first church I been to that uses wooden poles to fashion the cross!! If you can't visualize .. think of what boy scouts use to pitch their structures.
2.1 Upon scouting the surrounding areas, I realize wall leads to the transparent ceiling above (made of glass). So from the top (ground level), you can actually look down and see the altar and the stage. It must be a sight to behold, when sunlight seeps through and illuminate the stage.
2.2 Innovative. I find the screen particularly innovative. In most churches, the screen (for the projector) is static, in the sense the projector shines on a fixed spot on the wall. But for SAC, the screen is on a movable door. So imagine a very big door with a small opening but on top is where they project the image.
3. Access. I find the place easily accessible, unlike the one in the west. You don't have to walk down many flights of stairs, like the one in the west. IMHO, you should only do that after 2 hours in the cinema.
