Were all christians once catholic?

  Regarding Marcionism .. I'm not really versed in Early Christianities or Proto-Orthodox Christianity (the word is academical, do google for it), other than it was a big threat to the early church. Maybe I read more then we can have some sharing session.

  Marcion, insisted that the God of the Old Testament was totally different from the God of the New Testamant. He insisted that there were two Gods! The reason why it was so dangerous was because his organisation was out in the open, and in large scale.
  
  I think he would have wiped out the Gnostics, they probably have less resources than him..

  Schismatic is by definition. Some Protestants refuse to accept the Catholic as brethens in Christ, this makes it all the more schismatic. Don't even talk about ecumenism.

  Calling people non-christians is worse. It means they are not in Christ.
  
  Calling people heretical is not so bad, after all charismatics like to use this line - they call us heretical for our works of the Spirit never mind ,we have Christ can liao.

  haha. u chose the strong word, i tend to use Schismatics instead. But we acknowledge that you all are Christians lah. dun worry. actually, some Priests i speak to even discourage conversion.
