The bible is rather boring

one of the ways to learn about God is to read the bible, but to me the bible is kinda the most untouchable book around the house. sorry about that. i really would like to try to read the bible but its really rather dry and boring. to make it worse, the print is so fine that it makes reading it a chore. im not trying to flame anything but seriously, how do you christians read the bible? can anyone tell me how to get interested in the bible. people have told me to start reading from the new testament onwards but my interest starts to wane away once i get started and i end up throwing the bible to one side and not touching it for months.

so many ways..... but amounts to nothing if you are not interestd. -

read the revelations and the old testament. new testament more of teachings. old testament more of action pack stories.

It justs shows that u have no heart and will to embrace the religion now. One cannot expect all religions to be preached in a vibrant manner like certain churches in S'pore.
The bible is a book of wisdom. To others, it may seem utterly boring but if one really puts heart, soul and sincerity into reading it, it can be enlightening.
My $0.02 worth. Do show the bible more respect as it bears the word of God. -
Just a couple of questions my friend. have you read it with the intention of applying it in daily life? read it with the intention of applying it in your life. The Bible is a boring book if it is all lodged in the head and not lived out.
The Bible is a boring book if you do not have the dynamic life of Christ indwelling in you.
Or if you have Christ in you, the hope of glory, are you in fellowship with Him?
Has some unconfessed sin gotten in the way between you and HIm? -
nowadays got those funky kind....ESV, TNIV Bibles mah....there is even one kind tt looks like magazine. can be bought from SKS warehouse.
the impt thing is ur hunger for God's word, the cover may appear dull after a while, the prints may be too small as u age but the thirst must always be there.

in the adam and eve section of genesis........the fault of human temptation is great.....not many people can skip temptation without commiting a sin once in life.............and with the first bite of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil.....their eyes are opened and both saw themselves as naked............this chapter has great significance in my life......therefore i am sharing with you......might not occur to you or might occur at a later stage......i dunno......but ......this chapter is themed....the fall of man to temptation and sin...........have you ever fell into such a pit??? hmmmm.....
anyways.....the genesis is a very significant portion for those sinners to reflect....i would say....... -

Actually I'd suggest you read those bible study guides to get the big picture first. I recommend Chuck Missler, I read one of his books which you can borrow in the national library. I think it was Bible in 24 hours or something? Excellent book, taught me quite a few things.
Once you get the big picture, you know what to look out for and reading the bible becomes much easier.
Furthermore, reading a guide trains you to check the Scripture (like the brevans (sp?)). Whatever was said or quoted, double check with your bible. Take note of how the author explains certain verses.

To be frank, when I first read it 10 years ago, I did find it boring as well. Anyway, it would be a good start if you first treat it as a story book (or a compilation of many stories).
Personally, I would advise you to avoid Bibles with fine prints... Indeed it will be strenuous and causes drowsiness.
New Testament - I wonder if your friends tell you specifically which part of the New Testament you should start. Majority of the N.T. consists of letters or epistles, and that I would not recommend as a place to start. The best book to start is the Gospel according to Matthew - 1st book of the N.T. Never read from the last book [yet], that would confuse you.
