Speaking of tolerance though, my best friend's family is quite an example. The mother is a Catholic, the father is a devoted buddhist, he himself is a Christian and his sister has a Malay boyfriend which means she would have to convert to Islam. Talk about diversity and tolerance!

I think religious acceptance should be the de facto standard in the society. We have enough divisions based on interests, race, culture etc as it is already; to have relgions creating more rifts is absolutely the last thing we need. -

Many taoist/buddhist practices have already found themselves a place in mainstream chinese practices. It's quite disturbing to have someone come along and ban practices which forms the backbone of the chinese culture.

Not really, just accept their existence and is quite alright to co-exist on a mutual respect level. If an emperor converts to Christianity in general, he is the Son of Heaven, same as Jesus? I am assuming God and Heaven are the same? -

Technically yes, but the Emperor I was talking about was Ming Xizhong/ Tianqi Emperor, who was mentally challenged. He couldn't care a F*** about any of this Sh1t and simply convert when one of his trusted official ask him to. Furthermore, the Chinese back then didn't know anything about catholic theology and their persception on religion is very different from westerners. Christianity disagrees with other religions.
We christians dont view ourselves as superior or whatever cos Jesus dies for everyone on the cross. On the other hand, we thank God for giving us the wisdom to see the truth. Therefore, we arent supposed to view ourselves as exclusive. -

And thus the boxer rebellion. THey accused Guangxu of converting, and has lost the mandate of heaven. blah & blah, but during that time irregardless of converting the boxer rebellion was going to happen anyway. which is why his supposed conversion is questionable.
