  Was watching Channel U just now, there was a program that featured the life of Catholic and Buddhist nuns...
  
  Really, why would any woman give up everything to become one?

  hmmm... perhaps in a more general term, why would anyone give up everything to become one?(man to be priest/monks and woman to be a nun)

  eh, how come you didnt ask why would men give up everything to become monks?
  
  anyway, i think what they give up is something that is immaterial to in both contexts, salvation and enlightenment, ie, money, relationships etc

  Protestants do have ministers who are celibate. However it is a very special calling.

  ohh .. i actually have a few friends from Campus Crusade for Christ in full time ministry who have taken the vow of celibacy. That being said, celibacy definitely isn't for everyone

  They lost confidence in marriage? They love God so much that they cannot love any other man as well? They dont want marriage & child rearing to interfere with their ministry? They can serve full time as in really full time devotion? Read 1 Cor 7. Marriage is a concession. Celibacy is best if one is called.

  B'coz she's given up hope on the world so completely that she prefers to withdraw into herself. guess this is sad but quite possible..........
