Hrmm...will God ever put us in a situation to lie to help (in his terms not ours) in a situation in the first place?I thought it happen everyday. Sometime a person or a doctor lie mentioning a love one or patient is going to become better even though he is on the verge of death.
Is that so ? You know who is God ?Originally posted by stupidissmart:I thought it happen everyday. Sometime a person or a doctor lie mentioning a love one or patient is going to become better even though he is on the verge of death.
Is that so ? You know who is God ?How does it help ? It helps as much as praying by giving them hope SO if u r the doctor, u going to tell all bad news without reservation to everyone who visit u ? Tis kind of doctors lack compassion and tact
Anyways, how does lying in the scene as you describe above going to help ?
if you dont defend yourself, it's suicide, and therefore sinful.Originally posted by popmynutsy:it is wrong to lie, whether its for a good purpose or bad purpose. we should do wad god will do. so in a war, we shouldnt kill the enemy in gods view. but from the worldly view, we should kill them as a self defence. its up to u. i will kill the enemies.

hohoo, Catholic moral theology is a very very wide subject.Originally posted by SocialOutcast:"According to the common Catholic teaching it is never allowable to tell a lie, not even to save human life."
So far, I have not yet seen a biblical verse to support any notions. Is there even a biblical verse on this subject? If not, then as someone suggested it is really down to our conscience. However I do not agree that our weak human conscience can give an absolute answer to these questions. And do you believe God has left these grey areas unanswered?
If, say, lying is not allowed to even save human lives, then Oskar Schindler did an immoral job bribing his way past Nazi officers to save the lives of 1,000 Jews. Has he done wrong?
lying is a sin, but dont u think tat letting people die also is a form of sinOriginally posted by SocialOutcast:"According to the common Catholic teaching it is never allowable to tell a lie, not even to save human life."
